TEAM: Andrew Mallalieu (driver) / Sean Gill (Co-driver)
CAR: SUBARU N10
The car was originally built by Tommi Makinen Motorsport, brought to Barbados in a LHD spec by Sean Dowding, from whom Andrew Mallalieu acquired it. It was then converted to RHD in late 2012.
ANDREW MALLALIEU says: “I have never rallied outside Barbados, although I’ve raced in Guyana, Puerto Rico and Trinidad – I won many races at Wallerfield in the 1990s in my Suzuki Swift.
Why Rally Trinidad? Well, I am 50 this year and it seemed like a great boy’s trip. I’ve heard it is maybe the best gravel rally in the region and it sounds like fun.”

Sean has had a long history of Rallying in the Caribbean and Trinidad specifically. HAROLD MORLEY x SHIVA MAHARAJ
TEAM: Harold Morley (driver) / Shiva Maharaj (co-driver)
CAR: 2014 SUBARU IMPREZA STI
This car will be undoubtedly the newest car at Rally Trinidad, ironically driven by the oldest and most long standing foreign competitor. Harold has competed in every Rally Trinidad since the Event’s first year in 2014. Harold has probably the longest rally career, and is actually the 1974 British Rally Champion. He has owned more than 20 Rally cars in his long career and Trinidad has seen about 5 of them personally (all Subaru’s), even at one time owning the Subaru N12 currently driven by Stuart Johnson.
Harold Morley, although UK born, spends most of his time in Barbados but has been the most committed entrant into the Caribbean’s Rally Championship (Trinidad, Barbados, and Jamaica) and is all too familiar with the stages and Trini ‘style’ of rallying. Look out for him in the Group N class at Rally Trinidad 2015, and if all goes well this car should remain in Trinidad for the remainder of the 2015 Season.
Harold will have Shiva Maharaj (Trinidad) sitting as his co-driver. Shiva is a long time member of the TTRC and was a stand in co-driver for Harold at local event in late 2013. He and Harold have been together ever since at Rallies in Trinidad.

STUART MCCHLERY x AVINASH CHATRANI
TEAM: Stuart McChlery (driver) / Avinash Chatrani (co-driver)
Car: FORD ESCORT MKII
The Escort:
Originally acquired by my parents, Mike and Pat in 1979, the 1972 Mk1 Twin Cam Escort saw its first competition in the 1979 June Rally, driven by Mom who did a couple of other speed events before she quit driving; Dad retired his Lotus Anglia and began competing in the Escort. Mom’s brother Hal Hunte became his regular navigator and the team competed in all the rallies for the next five years, including going to Trinidad in May 1984 for the Dunlop 1000. The following year, the late Marc De Verteuil of Trinidad drove the Escort in the June Rally in Barbados with Dad navigating. As well as rallying the Escort was used in all the hill sprints and events during that time.
The car was temporarily retired in 1986 and, unfortunately, left outdoors to the mercy of the elements. At that time I was 11 years old and started driving it on the cart roads around my home. In 1992, I asked if I could have the car, my wish was granted and, on leaving school, its restoration became my project. In 1997, the Escort was finally completed and ready once again, I decided to do Rally Trinidad that year and continued to compete in as many events as possible back home. Another major rebuild was completed in 2013, including fitting a new roll cage – we are constantly making changes and improvements to keep the ‘Old Girl’ updated, especially where safety is concerned.
Of this year’s trip, Avinash Chatrani says:
“I’ve wanted to compete in Rally TnT for a few years and made promises to the regular Trinidadian competitors that I was coming down. I knew I had some big shoes to fill after Neil Armstrong took what is now my Evo VI and made her dance nicely down there. As the Evo was getting ready after a year and a half break from motor sport, the driver needed some competitive experience on the loose before heading down. Stuart’s years of experience was a great opportunity for me to get a feel for the stages there and tackle it next year.”

1996 – class-winner in International All-Stage Rally (co-dvr to Martin Atwell, Toyota Corolla)
1995 – started competing in a Toyota starlet, did two rallies
AC
2014 – took a year off motor sport, Evo VI being rebuilt
2012 – 16th o/a, class winner, Sol Rally Barbados (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI)

WAYNE ARCHER x DEREK EDWARDS
TEAM: Wayne Archer (driver) / Derek Edwards (co-driver)
Car: Peugeot 206
Trinidad may recognize this car from 2008, when it was dark blue and driven by Ian ‘Wee Wee’ Warren. It was an absolute monster and won its class quite comfortably. Years later this car is still very capable and should be very competitive in the Modified 2WD Group. Wayne Archer and Derek Edwards are actually family (brothers-in-law) and should get on well in Trinidad given Derek’s experience here in previous years alongside Trevor Manning (2012).
