SuperStreet IRS: Race Weekend #6

SSIRS closes their inaugural Championship and Race Weekend Series on exceedingly high note at the Wallerfield International Raceway after hosting 6 successful events for 2016. The championship ended with a track side prize giving ceremony on Sunday 4th December with prizes awarded for both bike and car time attack and circuit racing.

As per usual the event was broken into two days with driving school, open practice and test and tuner being held on the Saturday- this weekend the driving school was operated under the tutelage of Marc Gill, Shane Gill and Ryan Peyrau.

On Sunday the competition started with time attack in all class including bikes, most impressive was the battle of seconds or shall I say milliseconds between Ryan Peyrau in the Ventura sponsored Mitsubishi Evolution 4 and Sean Shairsingh’s hard-to-not-see Porsche GT3 RS- the final verdict? A 43.605s for Ryan vs a 43.835s for Sean. Unofficially? Sean was able to get all 4.0L of naturally aspirated glory to the tarmac and run a time of 43.553 making him the fastest car of the day, though this was done during an exhibition run and not actual competition.

In circuit racing it was a shuffle for position as Ronnie Rajpaulsingh, Alistair Rahamut and Jagdeo Seecharan traded positions within and between both races to secure the top three spots while the rest of the pack fought for the remaining positions.

On to two wheels the WIR has a new local bike record once again as Kiel Abraham edges ahead of team mate Warren De Nobriga with a time of 41.482s to secure first place in the time attack segment and also a first place in one of the circuit races, while Rossi Joseph took the top spot in the other.
