TTKA Karting Event #4 2019

TTKA Karting Event #4 2019

The Trinidad and Tobago Karting Association held their 4th event this weekend at the Wallerfield International Raceway. The event featured their three main classes and featured a 4th Invitational Class that was introduced to allow drivers who currently own karts that don’t conform to any particular championship class some track time.

With overcast skies, qualifying got underway and first up was the Sportsman Class. This event bosted eight drivers in this class but was dominated by the #13 kart of Shane Sheppard, Shane took pole position and complimented that with 3/3 race wins, reducing the points gap to Championship leader Scott Wortman down to 1 point and securing the overall win for race day 4. Debutant to the Sportsman Class Rylie Ramroop impressed on the day with two 2nd place finishes and a 4th place in the final to secure 2nd position for the day. Rossi Lochan and Scott Wortman rounded off the podium in 3rd place. Newcomers Liam Bartlet and Noah Walker battled fiercely throughout the day with Jonathan Aqui and Siddique Mohammed leaving spectators spoilt for choice as to where to look as races progressed on throughout the day.

In the Rotax International Class, Justin Wortman set the pace early taking pole in qualifying ahead of returning veteran Ryan Peyrau. Justin extended his dominance on the field with 2 race wins and a 2nd place to take the overall win for the day and the championship lead. Christopher Ramnauth continued with his strong run of form finishing the race day in 2nd overall with a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd in the 3 races. Dillon Ali rounded off the podium with a 2nd, a 3rd and a 4th place finish. Rotax International will definitely be a class to keep an eye on with all drivers with nearly identical lap times, it’s a battle of consistency for the 2019 championship.

The Sportsman Masters class was dominated by another driver out of Team Wortman Racing. Ronald Wortman piloted his #47 kart to pole position and 3/3 race wins for the day further extending the championship gap over 2nd place Anthony Shaw. Anthony sealed two 2nd place finishes for the day and Barry Rostant rounded off the podium in 3rd. With 5 more race events to go the rest of the field will definitely have their targets locked on that #47 kart aiming to steal those vital points away from him and claim the championship title.

Last but certainly not least the invitational class saw the return of the Zoey Garcia and Naomi Garcia. These two young ladies took full advantage of the track time in order to get accustomed to the circuit and their machines, much to the delight of the crowd present.

The next event scheduled for July 14th at the Wallerfield International Raceway and the TTKA promises it’s not one that you would want to miss.
