mojosodope wrote:Guys need some help here with this new Moca modem, took the upgrade a couple days ago to keep HD and while the cable is decent the new modem has been hell with my network.

With the old modem (the one without wifi) went directly to my nighthawk ac1900 and my nat was open and my CCTV was working good through remote viewing.

I've tried port forwarding, dtz, upnp and my nat is still strict, cctv is only viewable when connected to my local wifi and my sonos network is messed up.

Current setup is the moca modem with the wifi disabled and my nighthawk directly hooked up to it.
Nat mode is routed with NAT on the flow modem but Moca goes down when I switch it to bridged or routed without nat.

Any advice?

on the modem, change the routed with nat to bridged, this forwards public ip addresses that would usually be nated by the modem to any connected devices on the modem. Do note that depending on ur package you are allowed 1- 3 ip addresses.

When set to bridged the Moca doesn't work on the cable boxes.

Went out and bought a 25ft ethernet to run directly from the moca modem to my dvr and after talking to samsung support and them checking the settings on the moca modem they don't understand why the ports are being blocked regardless. It has to be an ISP side issue because I tried portfowarding directly to the DVR as well as putting it in DMZ and remote viewing is a no go, can only be viewed on my local network.

port forwarding on the arris modems are crap.. they dont work... u basically need to get the public ip to "relay" to the private ip on the dvr or for the dvr to get a public ip.... i would suggest u call flow but u not really going to get help... i'll talk to someone there to see if they can find a work around for u..

Flow Internet Thread

Postby mojosodope » October 5th, 2015, 10:38 pm

Yeah I called and apparently they have someone dedicated to issues with this new modem specifically with the ports. He checked and the modem refuses to open any ports so they're running more tests to see what's up. But now they know it's nothing on their side but has to do specifically with the modem being a bitcchh

I asked if I need to have flow Internet to keep the AVS and they said no. So digicel or massy may be an option if this isn't resolved soon.

^ this talk about Massy I can't seem to find any relevant information about availability of their services etc

The tuner mod nismo called me tonight he said he upgraded the firmware on my modem as he works for flow. This will hopefully solve the disconnect issue but I can't confirm as yet need to give it a couple days as it seems to work fine "so far"

But about massy they doing what FTTH or something? jokey people only looking to put down internet in west morrings like what TSTT does? or they going the route of digicel through the whole country?

The good news is Digicel was infront my house today these people setup table and umbrella with chair and thing in the middle of the road. LOL they were testing the fibre lines on the pole, apparently Digicel the fibre internet is up and running as we speak. But contractor said Q1 of 2016 as they have lots of tests to do.

We had an outage in the Penal area last night internet was really slow then. Woke up this morning Internet was back on, did a speed test out of Miami and I'm getting the full 15MB down now.

Right so anyone with the new Moca modem and experiencing problems with strict nat and ports being closed.

Here's the solution.
Leave your Moca modem on routed with nat. Do not change this setting.

Under firewall everything should be checked on expect the block fragmented ip packets (last option on the page)

If you are using your own wireless router leave all the settings as it was in the past and working perfectly you don't need to touch anything there unless you want to set a static IP address for it.

On the flow modem under lan change the dhcp range to something like starting from 20.

Now you're going to dmz your wireless router. What I did was I reserved my wireless router's client ip as .02. Which falls under the <20 range.

The reasoning for this is that the address you DMZ cannot be in the range the flow modem dhcp addresses too.

To keep my private ip from changing in power outages etc I set it as a reserved client on the flow router as 192.168.0.2 and made my net gear static at that same address.

You do not need a static ip from flow. We are talking about static ips on your private network.

Make sure the firewall on the flow modem is ON. The supervisor at flow who led me to this solution said while it's very weird. Once you take the firewall off ALL ports are going to be blocked.

Under dmz enable it and set it to your router.

Note: if you have any other devices connected to the flow modem besides your own wireless router you will need to manually port forward them on the flow modem under virtual servers.

This worked perfectly for me and my nat is now open and I can remote view my DVRs.

I think massy installing fibre for digicel, they were in front my other store last month. Digicel Fibre will most likely be available December nation wide.

Mojo excellent follow up. Will try it out later.

Also to add, it seems a lot of TWC US users have this said modem and the part about assigning IPs for that range and not in .0.2 is suggested but ... Yeh... I was too tired to dig any further. I glad to hear d DVR working now. That means it working good!

thanks!

If it connects to another router/switch you can set the dns addresses there. If not, make sure once you set the dns in the DG860, that you power off/refresh the IP config on any connecting device, as it wont recieve the new dns until the dhcp lease renews. If you use static IPs this should not be a problem unless you set flows dns servers ip as the pref. and alt. dns servers. If all else fails get on your knees and pray.

Ow ho I see

well i just wanted to point out that the disconnect issue is still here. And has been pretty bad over the weekend. Updating the firmware I don't think did anything, the flow Techs is as I suspected they do not know what is causing the issue and they do not know how to fix it. They even admitted it to me, hmmm.

On the positive side of things, Digicel has made significant headway on my side hell they even reached Las Lomas. These people seem like they mean business, the coverage they are doing is massive.

Seems like they are coming to destroy flow and tstt in 1 shot. I didn't imagine there would be an ISP that would go this far and be this professional. But it seems like our prayers has been answered with Digicel. I hope Digicel offers a free installation deal, I will take them in a heartbeat, if not well would still pay whatever needs to be paid.

My lil 15 meg package and Netflix, YouTube and all my streams work pretty consistently. Can't blame the disconnects on them since my router does lay mad really often.
