Wasa owns all the water both land, rain sea and waste.

Your chit belongs to dem

I actually built my own wind turbine from scrap which supplies about 25% of my power. Just TTEC don't know about it and will never know.

The reason TTEC wants to know about any power generation equipment you have, is if there is an outage and try to to do work on the lines, and you have your power generation equipment feeding back into the grid, when the men go to work on the lines they can be electrocuted even though that area supposed to be dead, and if that happens, as it has happened before, you will be facing jail time. So it better to have your wind turbine separate from TTEC grid supply, or install the proper system to isolate yourself in an outage and let them know

TTEC doesn't own all the electricity generated. They just can't buy/take any surplus energy so you need to remain off grid with your own power generation.
I believe you still need permission to run your own power generation.

As long as your power generation equipment is off the grid, TTEC does not care about it, if it is tied into a supply that you get from TTEC, then they care. TTEC does not generate any of the power in this country, all TTEC does is handle the distribution of the power it buys from the power generation companies

I think there is more to it than the safety aspect.... I remember reading a generator license outlining that you need to pay for power generation in Trinidad and the authority is T&TEC. The law probably isn't enforced but it is similar to WASA and their crazy water law

A TTEC linesman was killed some time ago
Because of a standby generator with no\ faulty \transfer switch I can't remember . Any generator hooked into their system has to be inspected by them. Wasa say all the water is theirs . So all whose homes were flooded and who lost cars and other property should be compensated by them?

HDC, Chinese company partner on 5000-unit housing project

Image

A formal agreement has been signed by Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Chinese company, China Gezhouba Group International Engineering Co Ltd (CGGC) to construct 5000 apartment units at specific sites across Trinidad.

This signing ceremony, which comes after a year of negotiations, was held on Friday at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Port of Spain.

The first phase of this collaboration with CGGC is expected to produce 204 two and three-bedroom apartment units at South Quay, Port of Spain and 235 two and three-bedroom apartment units at Lady Hailes Avenue, San Fernando.

CGGC will be responsible for the financing, design, procurement and construction of the housing blocks and the associated infrastructure for these developments.

The first phase of the project is expected to span two years and is estimated to cost $USD 71,739,411.00.

Local content including materials and labour are expected to be used for this project. It is expected that this construction project with CGGC will significantly reduce the deficit in the local housing industry and will regenerate the urban landscape in cities such as Port of Spain and San Fernando.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Housing and Urban Development Minister, Edmund Dillon said no Government can satisfy the huge demand for public housing; however, what the Government must do is ensure that alternative measures are put in place so that low and middle-income families who require the state’s assistance for shelter, can have an opportunity.

Describing the deal as “a defining moment for the housing construction industry in Trinidad and Tobago”, the Minister stated that “the Government through agencies like the HDC, remains committed to providing affordable, well-designed housing accommodation and adequate infrastructure and amenities for the various low and middle-income citizens.

Also present at the signing ceremony was HDC Managing Director, Brent Lyons, Member of Parliament for Port of Spain South, Marlene McDonald, Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi who is the Member of Parliament for San Fernando West, Trade and Industry Minister, Paula Gopee-Scoon, Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Minister, Dennis Moses, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Song Yumin and executives of the HDC.

Is this a case of a Chinese company offering a price no local firm can compete with? Or some back room deals with China?

Could be China buying influence in the region, in that case they are probably willing to offer the project at a reduced or special price.

In that case the current admin gets a civil works project to talk about, some folks get houses, they can claim a cost saving and still delivering. The real issue is the long term implications, if built, who is maintaining it, the Chinese or locals and at what long term cost?

Also are we paying them in cash, or are we giving them concessions we are yet to hear of in exchange for the project?

Either which way the real beneficiaries are the Chinese.

Yuh know... i'm amazed at how PNM does force HDC projects in the weirdest areas of San Fernando. Olera Heights is one of them. I know some will say that the play is to secure future votes but gosh :?

Sounds bad but the faster the gentrification, the better. Where they planning to build this is next to Embacadere which is an HDC hot spot that needs to flatten.

Middle class families and up is fine for this project. If they don't do this correctly, that part of sando will become an "east POS".

These HDC and PNM people like they never hear about urban planning. they never hear about environmental psychology - is like they never even take a walk around san fernando. the place already overcrowded and pack up but they still cramming more and more in to san fernando west .

What is the final goal of HDC ? They will ever stop ? or they will just build and build until they run out of land to pave ?

Only if it's upper middle class and up otherwise is just another PNM ghetto. Sad thing is that suppose to be prime commercial real estate in South Quay. They wasting land if they using profit making commercial land for subsidised housing.

I'm not trying to justify anything. There are lots of good reasons to criticize the current administration. I'm just laughing at how some here with a "certain perspective" get deflective when anyone brings up the fact that Kamla made equal shit-kickers out of her flock? Thing is, you and your ilk could blame PNMism, shitkicker-ism and everything else under the sun, till you run out of breath and still fail to understand that Kamla's handling of the country's affairs during her tenure, led to where we are now? So if you could relegate people to the scrap heap in one ched, doh beatup, when someone does the same to Kams elsewhere?

It is actually refreshing to note that since Redman, elite and Zitty bubble down, and Tokesy only making, well token attempts to do so, that you are the one true believer in this fackery. 57 years of independence, several oil booms, a PNM monopoly on power for more than 75% of that time, and yet a 5 year period led to ruin? Nah man, better than that! This isn't the PNM Fan Club you're talking to.
Well said, PNMites fail to realize is one party in power for the majority of our independence and manage to fcuk up a country blessed with massive natural resources. That is a testament to what a fcukin waste the PNM has always been.
