TTKA Kart Racing #1
The Trinidad & Tobago Karting Association TTKA kicked off their 2011 Championship Season with some modifications made to their 2010 circuit track layout at ARC car park in Arima, most notable of which is the new chicane at the eastern end. Rain caused a late start but racing ran like clockwork and all events were run off before sunset. Earlier races suffered from standing water on the track causing a few more spills and thrills than usual but the water quickly dried up enough that the last few races were run on slicks.
Stance Movement – Hard Parking on the Bay
The “Stance Movement” staged yet another meet dubbed “Hard Parking – on the bay…”. Tuners from all across the country gathered to join the convoy from the Caroni Bird Sanctuary parking lot, headed straight to Maracas Beach to chill for the rest of the day.
Sheldon Bissessar breaks record at Palm Beach
The first IHRA Nitro Jam event for 2011 kicked off at Palm Beach International Raceway in Florida where Methanex-sponsored Trinidad Rocket Sheldon Bissessar entered the Top Dragster competition. The first pass of the day yielded a 5.87-second time putting Sheldon Bissessar in the number one qualifying position.
T&T Drift Expo & Bike Stunt Show
Easy Events Unlimited led by Andre Rushford held their inaugural Drift Expo and Bike Stunt show at Pier II in Chaguaramas. Drifter from DWO (Drift World Order) and Slide Syndicate were present and put on quite a show. Both clubs also took this event as an opportunity to debut some new rides.
Solodex 6
Solodex 6 marked the final event of the 2010 championship series. With some classes still undecided, the drivers took turns trying to conquer the course. The competition was close as the drivers took turns trying their best to beat the clock. With dark clouds threatening to make driving conditions difficult for the drivers, each driver tried their best to get in a good time in the dry.
San Fernando Grand Prix 2010
In 1986, Trinidad & Tobago was treated to a spectacle of Motorsport that many remember as one of the greatest events they ever witnessed. The effect was such that spectators rushed on to the roads and racing had to be stopped after the second race. So great was their passion for seeing the streets of San Fernando alive with the glorious sound of full race machines at full throttle.
Mika Häkkinen – Johnnie Walker “Join The Pact”
Two-time F1 Champion Mika Häkkinen visited Trinidad & Tobago recently to spread the word about Johnnie Walker International’s “Join the Pact” campaign against drinking and driving. Attendees were also addressed by A.S. Bryden & Sons (Trinidad) Ltd. Director David Franco of Wine and Spirits Division who indicated that while they market alcohol, Johnnie Walker, brand owners Diageo and local distributors A.S. Bryden & Sons remain fully committed to promoting responsible consumption.
