TTORC Herring Quarry Off Road Competition

TTORC Herring Quarry Off Road Competition

The Trinidad and Tobago Off Road Club held its first extreme 4×4 competition for the year on the 15th August. This event took place at Herring’s Quarry located at Grant Road, Rousillac and was open to competitors from both the Trailblazers and TTORC. Since the skies had dumped rain in the morning, the course posed a great challenge with all the mud and slush. Over ten Suzukis, a lone Nissan Patrol, and V8 powered Hilux each set out to try and finish the technical course with the least amount of time.

TTKA Karting #7

TTKA Karting #7

This had to be one of the wettest karting events of all time. The inclement weather stopped racing after just two class races as officials pondered on canceling the event. Water pooled up, ankle high, on the northern side of ARC as everyone huddled under the tents for shelter from the rain and wind. The showers eventually stopped and after making some adjustments to the course, the officials restarted the event and racing continued for the rest of the day under an overcast sky. The water splashes and sliding made racing even more exciting for both competitors and spectators and really tossed up the usual finishing order!

Stance Movement – Car Park Lime

Stance Movement – Car Park Lime

With the hype rising towards the “Stance Nationals – One” event in September; we decided to do a small car park lime and photo shoot to screen some of the cars that were interested. Despite the fact that this was planned and executed in a matter of days, the afternoon was enjoyable and different; a breath of fresh air for a change… from the usual ‘bling’ and ‘sound-off’ events that we’re accustomed to. It’s all about staggered wheels, big brakes, big exhausts, racing seats and harnesses… all race inspired design where form follows function. If your car is built to race and handle then it belongs here. It’s a totally different kind of “car show”.

TTKA Karting #6

TTKA Karting #6

The weather held up perfectly all day with no need to change from slicks. The first cadet race didn’t go so well, as there was an accident with the spill causing a young driver to suffer from a broken arm. A call later confirmed that he was otherwise ok and racing went on for the rest of the day without a hitch, as racers battled for points leading up to the championship. The podium told the story at the end of the 6th TTKA championship event for 2010.
