A LAVENTILLE man was killed when his car was hit by a pick-up van that crossed the median of the Solomon Hochoy Highway on Thursday night.
Gary Garth, 34, of Upper Pashley Street, Laventille, died at the scene from head injuries.
The driver of the pick-up, a 29-year-old man of La Horquetta, was taken to hospital complaining of chest pains.
The collision happened at around 9.45 p.m. near the Freeport overpass, in an area where the cable barriers separating the north and southbound lanes of the highway have not yet been built.
Police were told the black Ford Ranger was travelling north when it spun out of control and crossed the highway.
Garth's car, a Toyota Corolla, broadsided the pick-up van on the passenger's side.
Police have begun a motor manslaughter investigation.

So then when you're caught without insurance what's the charge? Attempted murder?

FYI *$kїđž!™ , what time are you on the highway? I have been driving north/ south/ Mayaro for over ten years now, and I have seen a marked increase in patrols at all hours of the day, but particularly between 4:00am and 8:00am.

every morning when im going to work at 4am, there are police on the road.
Blaming police for people driving recklessly?? dude seriously....
We need to be more responsible for our actions....we need to stop pointing fingers and blaming each other when something happen....
it is sad that an innocent person died and the arm of the law will deal with the person who caused it.....

If that is the case, how come the popalie character that killed the policeman was not charged.
She had been denied bail when she first appeared on Monday, charged with driving her car dangerously, causing the death of SRP Renaul Dopson and causing grievous bodily harm to his colleague, Wendy-Ann Timothy, on October 17.
