Great for tree huggers. Not if you actually care about driving though.

Doh worry Bunny! They catering for enthusiasts as well, high end already have BMW i8, Porche panamera hybrid and the Mclaren P1.

The tech trickling down to cheaper cars with VW GTE's. So plenty fun to go around.
The way things going the next MX-5 might be electrified.

I would like to think its more of an environmental benefit. Fewer emissions for our toxic carbon output as a nation. We already have no emissions control/enforced control. Plus if yuh use ah solar-charge port... efficiency fuh so.

What environmental benefit? How are batteries made? How is the electricity used to charge the batteries generated?
Yes the car itself would not have emissions but the big picture tells a different story. IMO.

It will not save the environment but it may reduce the impact. But that's not how they're selling it...

Tesla vehicles are protected by a 4 year, 50,000 miles (whichever comes first) new vehicle limited warranty and 8 year, unlimited mile battery and drive unit warranty.

Doubt they will be able to offer the same.

True the manufacturing process isn't environmentally positive. Although almost every aspect of manufacturing (of all products) incurs pollution. The difference being, the regular emissions of IC-driven vehicles add to global pollution, and obviously, electric cars don't.

But they are already getting phased out. Soon they'll prob only really be a niche offering exclusive to a small number of enthusiast cars :/ and maybe economy cars to keep prices down.

Most likely manuals will live on in luxury editions as an option. Remember the mass-production concept favours the cheapest-to-make.

But they are already being phased out ...

All the high end sports cars are switching to dual clutches and automatics.
Even the R&D boss at Lamborgini says manuals are dead.

The gap for the advantages of manuals have been more or less closed by newer DCT and automatics.

What Tesla needs is their tech with Land rover capability.

Apart from the novelty factor of the manual transmission, I don't see its value add anymore in modern auto engineering.

I think they have benefits besides novelty. Cheaper to maintain/repair. Lighter than slush boxes generally and makes driving more fun imo. Autos are nice but paddleshifter clicking gets boring real quick. Q

Well you don't have to use the paddleshifter, you can still pull/push the gear leaver unless you in a merc.

A DCT with a traditional stick shifter ... now that's a good idea.

How is the shifter stick any different from paddleshifters in terms of boredom with respect to an auto box regardless of dct or traditional slush box ? They do exactly the same and require zero thought input. Both get boring.

They already admitted on facebook that they are not dealers for Tesla vehicles but they are facilitating the purchase of these vehicles.

Just highlighting the fact that since they are facilitators don't really expect any after sales support.

PRICES IN THE USA

The 2016 Tesla Model S 70 has a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $71,200, including the $1,200 destination charge.

The AWD 70D starts at $76,200, while the RWD Model S 85 starts at $81,200. The AWD 85D adds $5,000 to that price.

Taken from MSN Money: http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companie ... spartandhp

Here is a part of the article:

Pete Cordaro was creeping down a dirt road in his 2013 Tesla Model S electric car, on a Sunday outing with his wife to hunt mushrooms in the Pennsylvania woods, when he encountered a pothole and then heard a loud crack.

“The front of the car just dropped,” he said. “The left front wheel just detached from the car.”

When Tesla picked up his car, Mr. Cordaro was at first told he would have to pay for the repairs because they were from normal wear. After pressing his case with a Tesla manager, he was told the company would pay part of the cost — as long as he signed a nondisclosure agreement.

Neither the equipment breakdown nor the confidentiality demand turned out to be an isolated case. And now they have Tesla Motors on the defensive.

After the nation’s top auto safety regulator raised questions about reports of suspension problems with the Model S, Tesla declared in a blog post on Friday that the suspension system had no safety defects. But what set the case apart from other auto safety episodes was the introduction of a nondisclosure agreement into the relationship between car owner and automaker — an unusual practice by an unconventional company whose founder, Elon Musk, has roots in Silicon Valley, not Detroit.

Apparently the removal of VAT and duty on these cars "with immediate effect" in the mid year review was a lie

Normel taxes ... Rowley probably veto colm idea to give tax incentives for "green vehicles" just like he vetoed decriminalizing weed and the upward adjustment of the speed limit.

Its like rowley is no fun at all ....

Zero emissions ? They charging with a solar panel ? Why everything must be fraudulent ? LOL

The autopilot will crash like a drunk monkey in Trini roads I would imagine... but the car is a nice drive. At 500-700k, you could get an E class or 5 series with gas for almost a decade.
