"Customs officials are currently on the scene of what is being described as a 'major' drug bust at Kings Wharf, San Fernando. This is a developing story, we will have more on this as information comes to hand.

Around 5:00 am on 22/04/2021, Ag/Customs Officer 2 Mohammed & party were patrolling the waters off the Pt. Fortin coastline, approximately one nautical mile, when they observed a boat with three persons on board. They stopped and checked same and observed a quantity of fuel containers together with 32 re rectangular shaped packets. A check was made and one of the packets was found to contain plant like material resembling marijuana and another one contained a powder like substance resembling cocaine. The three persons were arrested and brought to the San Fernando wharf where further inquiries are presently on going. "

I would hope they did go out to sea. There is an entire unit for that Marine Interdiction Unit and they have craft and are highly weaponised as well.

Large cache of arms, ammunition seized at Piarco Bond

Police and Customs made a major discovery of high-powered guns, ammunition, and equipment during a raid at a Bond at Piarco International Airport, last night.

According to reports, sometime around March 15th, 2021, police received information from their international partners to be on the lookout for the importation of arms and ammunition entering Trinidad and Tobago. On April 20th, further information was received and a package was identified at the Bond. On April 22nd, an operation was carried out at the Bond, involving officers of the Customs and Excise Division, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), and the TTPS Crime Scene Unit.

During the search of the package, the team discovered a large quantity of high-powered weapons, pistols, various assortment of ammunition, police sirens, police blue lights, bullet-proof vests, and magazine holders.

Investigations are continuing.

So I'm assuming this came through the airport? Obviously someone wouldn't ship that quantity of weapons without knowing they would be caught, unless they weren't supposed to be caught and somehow the deal went sour

Seems to me like this was destined for a licensed gun dealer.
Cant see someone importing weapons of that nature through the airport with the risk of getting caught which did happen.
