I did it till form 3. Was never interested in it, can't remember jack sheit lol

Thanks for the replies Duane and bamfo_dennis. Those individual locations posted with the rain gauges - are readings available for each online anywhere or do we just get one overall average for the country?

After 2 days of rain, we have a maxed out river of that size and caliber.

It’s either, 1. we got a lot of rainfall, beyond your typical bad weather/tropical wave scenario based on recorded data or 2, maybe the Caroni river can no longer take the load or volume of water it was accustomed to.

Is it climate change? Is it a poorly maintained water course with landfill dumped into it amongst debris such as tyres, car parts and appliances etc?

I don’t want this comment of yours to go unnoticed because, let’s be real here, if it took 2 days to do that then what happens to all of us south of the caroni bridge if that amount of rain fell for 1 additional day? I don’t think tax payers or the treasury could handle another burden caused by flooding at this time. Prayers is all I can say yes.

At 2 pm the Caroni river was still maxed out , meaning that it has covered most vegetation on the river banks only trees were visible at the Highway bridge. The only thing preventing a spill over is the raised berm in that area of the river.

The big river in fishing pond(Grande) was maxed out as well. Just a little over a day's rainfall. THAT IS NOT A GOOD SIGN!. Spoke to an excavator guy and he indicated that several main water courses have not been cleaned

trantrill rd flooded two days now
this box drain was built this dry season
but appears to be bringing water from the river behind to the road, not making sense

^ There are flood gates/weirs at the bottom of Trantrill Road where the bridge crosses the river down there. Wonder if they have anything to do with that road flooding

its mainly due to a process called 'urbanization'.

but the caroni PLAIN and debe/woodland/barrackpore are all flood plains. how they have mud is by water overflowing the banks, flooding, dropping sediment (deposition), adn building up the land. those places are FORMED from flooding, over thousands of years.

in places like the bangldash delta or the amazon basin, or even the nigerian delta, those places are formed where rivers deposited a lot of eroded material from upstream. when the water reaches closer to sea height, it slows down and drops out the material. when there are floods it drops out even more material, buildingup the height of the land, until the next flood event.
those places, the houses are on stilts, to accomodate the annual rise of water

in trinidad, long time houses were above the ground to avoid santapee and scorpian from coming in. other houses had done that to keep off from the sappy ground from rainy season.

in the 80's/90's, people started to accumulate wealth, and built up the down stairs, so that they are more affected when rain falls, and floods.

too many people living there, so u cant move them.
so u can tell evry body backfill their land a 5 foot, to raise their property above flood hieght.
or widen all water courses to accomodate more water flow out to the sea.

but its not necessarily more water. its more urbanization, that leads to the same water, but reaching the same courses faster and all at once.

Say what allyuh want about MP Ratiram, but I glad the rivers by me being maintained.Normally the water would have already been high in my yard and driveway

A tropical wave is moving across Trinidad and Tobago, with the axis of the wave forecast to move across the islands overnight tonight into Monday.
— Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are forecast to begin near midnight on Sunday and continue through the first half of Monday with mostly cloudy skies. A dry and breezy evening is forecast on Monday, with Saharan Dust returning across the region.

— A large, well-defined but weak tropical wave is forecast to move across Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday night into Thursday. However, a band of moisture (not the Intertropical Convergence Zone) is forecast to begin affecting T&T from tonight.

— Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are forecast to begin near midnight tonight and continue through Thursday, with periodic mostly cloudy to cloudy skies. High concentrations of Saharan Dust remain across the region, which may limit rainfall.

Probably South Trinidad.....Saw TT Weather Centre this morning say showers across the Southern part of the country to be expected.

Tunapuna area is hot and sunny. Nary a cloud to be seen.

Relatively bright with cloud cover in San Juan.
For now the clouds don't look too menacing.
