Definition of a catch 22

Is 'red tape' causing the blockage of private business to thrive in Trinidad when they want Uber to comply with local laws.

BUT

If the government let uber run amok, not disclosing insurance and tax info, then people will cry that the govt letting the 1% stay outside the law

What is your problem with the 1 % ?

Where is Uber and 1% mix ?

Why all this "rum shop" talk Protein Head ?

Uber shut down because of PNM crime.

Did you not read how Uber drivers were attacked and one murdered  ?

https://www.independent.co.uk/travel/ne ... 07436.html

A list of countries which have banned Uber. Uber pre-emptively left Trinidad to avoid being added to that list. Read the reasons why uber was banned in those countries. Look familiar?

If that is your view so be it .

The Independent is a leftist tabloid .

" .. In 2007, Alan Rusbridger, editor of The Guardian, said of The Independent: "The emphasis on views, not news, means that the reporting is rather thin, and it loses impact on the front page the more you do that".[44] In a 12 June 2007 speech, British Prime Minister Tony Blair called The Independent a "viewspaper", saying it "was started as an antidote to the idea of journalism as views not news .. "

If you read the article you linked you will see a Chinese company purchased Uber in China.

The exact same thing can be said of the Trinidad Newsday then. So, you claim the independent is a lefty tabloid, then quote a right wing warmonger.

Also, congrats on finding the odd one out of a dozen+ examples

^^
If you read the PNM's letter highlighted you will notice they got involved in it's private corporate affairs. There is a BIR threat in essence . They did not want Uber to succeed .

The point is that if foreign companies are to invest in Trinidad apparently PNM "red tape" will destroy it.

Rowleee Administration went to China trying to attract Chinese investors . However back in Trinidad the Trinidad Chinese owners of Movie Towne was "red taped" to frustration with expansion of Movie Towne . They went to Guyana with over $1 Billion in investment .

PNM will pick and choose and not allow progress in Trinidad .

Uber is an example.

Now you have a problem with Newsday ?

You have problem with 1% .

Who exactly or what exactly do you adhere to besides your PNM mindset ?

Protein Head you always stray from the topic .

Your arguments are immature at most .

You make derogatory statements pertaining to 1% and Newsday etc.

Focus on Uber .

PNM's characteristic is to focus on many with no success , hence no plan in total.

Uber works great in New York and many other parts of USA.

To come to Trinidad ( Tobago ? ) and fail after Uber drivers are robbed and one murdered says a lot.

We do not have any form of security in Trinidad and we are being told lies from PNM MPs & TTPS

Also UNC MPs.

You dance around the topic and shift focus every time you cannot support your own points, then zero back in on the topic after two more posts. You call people names, talk about their level of education and yet, cry when someone does the same.
You are utterly obsessed with the PNM, and see them around every corner and before every shadow.

If my arguments are immature, yours are non existent.

What's the difference between Uber and hiring ya neighbour to drop you to the airport for a fee etc?

I am speaking from a legal standpoint yeah...Remember "PH" taxis work out of the same taxi stand that registered taxis do. They also use the same routes.

Uber is a completely different model.....It's basically a personal chauffeur....Uber is not a taxi in the traditional sense.

Very true, and many countries have this very argument. Uber is infamous for spending obscene amounts on lobbying and litigation.

There would be a lot of underlying laws applying to this, especially in terms of commercial liability insurance and such. If your neighbour carries your children to and from school for you for $100 a week, but uber does the same, I have no idea where to begin the distinctions

^^

PH taxis has it's reputation . It's people. Tuners can rate and judge for themselves .

Uber came in with an idea to "regulate" with new ideas.

However from day one PNM MPs bombarded the company with negatives .

You really have to ask yourself why ?

We talk about technology but where is it being promoted ?

That not "illegal" as well? I hear is the same uber drivers who working there now? Where the ministerial uproar?

I swear this country only makes noise when it comes to blocking progress.

Dumb retards don't even realise that before people book a vacation, they looking to see if certain amenities such as Uber etc easily available and accessible. All of that helps your country attract first time visitors.
