Anyone recently have to pay sales tax when using Aeropost's address. Never had to before but since last week it's coming up.

if i were you, I would get it sorted out asap.

next thing it have camouflage jockey shorts or worse. customs will jack you up since your name assigned to the package.

As soon as it showed up on my account I called Websource customer service to inform them that the package does not belong to me. The lame response I got was " we have to wait until it clears customs and arrives at our trincity warehouse, then we will open the package and determine who it belongs too." That is one BS answer.

If you have a customer informing you that a package was logged on their account and it doesn't belong to them. One would think the logical thing to do is hold the package in Miami until it's determined who the rightful owner of the said package is.

AP does confuse me when they ready. Two phones of basically equal value and equal weight but check the difference.... and both released a day apart.

Their "seabox" is still airfreight that that offer at seafreight price.
So they claim they have to charge the OPT as a result.
They also use volumetric weight
So its become a basically pointless service they have now.

Realistically none of that is tropical express fault though. Probably just the opt they could take fault for depending on how its advertised

Consumer Affair would deal with this? Hope he files a report with them and see what they say.

Thing is, Tropical Express should be operating with insurance and should not have had a problem fixing this. They should lose a lot of customers because of this because it have other skyboxes out there who don't behave so at all. Courier companies are usually very specific about transporting TVs as the talk was right here a few pages ago.

Insurance covers certain items. You have to pay for it to have it

Dont some skyboxes charge extra to crate and insure TVs?

the shipping difference could be explained by slight difference in weight, example 1.9lb vs 2.1lb. The major difference here pertaining to the warranty fee seems to have worked in your favour.

aeropost charges $1.5 per $100 value of item for their warranty fee so the first item was valued at 1000-1100 (using 7.25ttd to 1usd as exchange rate based on 10.88ttd to 1.5usd in 2nd bill) while the second was value at 0-100. Clearly latter looks wrong

on tropical express website, you would not know that their seabox service charges by volumetric weight unless you go to their calculator page so i think this guy's lawyer will have something to work with. that said, tropical was pretty clear that opt will be charged since they are really an air freight service offering sea rates. interestingly, the seabox calculator page gave a pretty close estimate to what he got charged.

next, there is the issue of customs/vat. government charges 20% customs and 12.5% vat on TV but the values provided by shoptropical don't really add up. we know the guy paid 587 usd (4000ttd) for the tv and tropical charged him 1386 ttd for freight and did not offer insurance so the CIF is 4000+ 0 + 1386 = 5386. The duty should then be CIF x 0.2 (customs duty) = 1077 ttd - tropical charged 1535. having said that, customs known to assign their own value to items so that could explain this discrepancy. shoptropical will have to provide documentation if that is the case; they have done this before for similar issues.

the final issue is the broken tv that he got. fact of the matter here is that majority of skybox don't insure damage incurred during transportation of goods and the few that do, include exceptions for large tvs (lol) or they ask you to pay some fee to crate it. Even if your TV was not damaged in transport, you could be one of the few unlucky ppl that got a DOA item. Even if you are with a skybox that transports items back for you or you find one that does, the cost to ship back a TV is astronomical and you then have to deal with customs to get some RMA paperwork done so you don't get taxed twice. too much headache, stick to local or find a skybox that handles returns/taxes for you, preferably for free.

that $118.65 warranty and returns figure seems to be an error.

At some point in time i will mistakenly use this as a reference and be very firetrucking confused.

RE: Tropical Express,
Not all skyboxes services are the same, and he unfortunately got what he paid for.

The bigger issue is why a freight forwarder is allowed to operate like this.
Everything under that black line says they should be avoided.

Websource is royally firetrucking up.
Items Delivered since Dec 6th not updated / received by them.
And the "new" website design is ugly and useless. much preferred the older version.

not websource fault. did you read the emails?
containers of items are being delivered to them and the all the items are being marked "delivered" by shippers

the containers are left in the parking lot of websource warehouse until staff sort through it.

i've seen it myself

Same here. Package delivered since the 7th and no update on it yet. Their email that they sent out last week stated that once they receive your item by the 15th (tomorrow) you will receive it on or before Christmas Eve. Now I'm starting to wonder if that will really be true or not.
