A soldier is to be charged for causing the vehicular road death of Kiss van delivery driver Neil Ballai.

The investigating police officers received instructions on Tuesday to charge the 29-year-old soldier with the offences of causing death by dangerous driving, driving without a certificate of insurance, failing to stop, and failing to render aid.

A police file was submitted to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and instructions were given to the investigator W/Cpl Cobbler to lay the charges.

Once charged, the suspect who is of Erica Drive in Laventille will appear in the Magistrates Court.

BODIES FOUND IN OVERTURNED VAN

The bodies of Sachin Teeluckdharry, 27, of Clarke Road, Penal and Ryan Ramnanan, 29, of Tulsa Trace, San Francique have been found after they were reported missing. The van was found overturned under the Cipero River Bridge.

Traffic piled up along the Solomon Hochoy Highway in the vicinity of Golconda where a vehicle found overturned in the Cipero River is currently being removed. The bodies of two, believed to be missing men, were found within the vehicle by the Hunters Search and Rescue Team this afternoon.

Tragic... yet I've always wondered if there were stronger reinforcements for pickups and their roof, would it have helped them survive?

I've seen videos over time of pickups rolling over and the roof compressing immediately, crushing occupants.

The speed they had to be going, I don't think any amount of reinforcement would have helped them. The front end smash would have done the job, I think it it landing on the roof was just the coup de grace.

Chrome ones are for style.
Proper rollbars should be bolted to chassis rails and not just screwed on to tray.

PC Diaz and other officers were on mobile patrol when they received information about a shooting on a farm. While heading east along the PBR with lights on and siren blaring, they collided with a Honda CRV near the intersection of Orange Grove Road and the PBR around 10.08 am.

The driver of the Honda CRV suffered a concussion. All the people involved in the accident were taken to the hospital where they treated and discharged.

The vehicle in the accident was one of the four that had recently been handed over to the Praedial Larceny Squad by Agriculture Minister Kazim Hosein.

Investigations into the accident are continuing.
