Guardian on sheit yes
Talk about why the CAL CEO paid himself a bonus of $500,000 when not a cent of Govt loan was paid back.

Jason,
According to the article, there is nothing wrong with the bonus as that was in his contract.
Likewise, nothing wrong with Keithos salary increase as that was his entitlement.

The thing with this is the bigger nations like America they can simply print more money and fund their football team to go to world cup and loss 100 times without feeling the economic effects, what will be our position in the next 10 years if we hold on to CAL in it's current state?pugboy wrote:we need to be mindful that for a country
a national airline is an item of pride
rules are going to be bent no matter what
rules concerning finances and ethics regardless of taxpayers burden
it’s no different than how a country will pay a national football coach an obscene amount of forex money knowing fully well the team ain’t going anywhere

Dave you know their liabilities are much more than assets tbh I don't see much of a difference between BWIA and CAL the writing is on the wallDave wrote:Loans do not take away from profit.
It interferes with your debt to equity ratios.
Most successful businesses have loans as the cost to borrow vs raising capital is cheaper plus loan interest is a tax allowable expense.
However, if your liabilities are greater than your assets then you're in problems.

CAL Flight Attendants have 5 different uniform variations, 5, and they can where whichever the feel like for duty….so looking like a coloring book when walking as a crew. Which airline in the world does this? No wonder Kamla mentioned the cost of Uniforms…..somebody getting a nice piece of money to supply all these uniforms.
CAL printing polos of all colors and designs for every week and every Welcome Home sheit for all stations they operate out of. Not to mention care packages for all staff twice a year with fancy Tumblers etc
CAL have a executive manager, senior manager and manager etc etc etc for every single department and unnecessary newly created positions collecting high 5 figure salaries. TOP HEAVY with lazy and unproductive people.
CAL sponsoring and hiring of popular artists and events etc is horrendous and lavish….a airline owing $260M+ does not justify a Party Culture.
CAL’s Barbados Base is sucking money to pay staff who rotate there for an entire month where the crew is accommodated in an all inclusive resort and paid daily in USD.
All airlines are going paperless boarding passes…CAL insists on printing colored boarding passes….another cost.
Whats happening with the other new routes that are not making money?
Why has CAL CEO gone silent after he lied to his staff about proudly declaring a profit? Resignation in motion?
Taxpayers need answers.

Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Eli Zakour raised the issue during Monday night’s Senate debate on the Finance (Supplementary Appropriation) (Financial Year 2025) Bill.

A fellow tuner mentioned that some of CAL’s newly appointed board members have aviation experience, necessary for the proper management of the RED national airline.
Can anyone shed some light?
Now bear in mind….being a past auditor has nothing to do with the operational experience required.
