could be bad wiring, damaged speakers, wires shorting or even faulty amp....try disconnecting all speakers wires, leaving the power and remote wires connected and see what happens.
If this works; ensure the speaker/speakers u r using are good, none of the wires are damaged and that u did indeed wire the thing correctly.
The other option is to get an experienced installer.......

Had the same problem and it turned out that the pigtail wires on the subwoofer were touching  causing the amp to trip.

its usually ah simple ting like a strand of wire causing a short circuit ,speaker wire grounding off on d car's body or trying to put a load on d amp below what its rated to handle comfortably .......

disconnet the speaker wire from the output of the amplifier and then turn it back on

if it does not go into protection mode then you may ahve ashort somewhere and it could have already damaged the amp

if it still goes into protection mode then the amp may be damaged and will need to be checked

however in doing your checks

check and ensure that the ground wire is connected properly to the amp and the chassis of the vehicle and also that you are getting minimum 12 volts to the positive terminal of the amplifer when you tunr the amp on

as these conditions may also yield a protection light on some amplifiers
