2008 subaru impreza 1.5 R

so....i haven't seen any actual reviews on this vehicle....so just thought i would post up my 2 c and hear wat u'll have to say

test drove it this morning
Price : 176 k (Auto)
165 k (M/T)
The above comes with the black steel rims, 3 point security system, autoclimate A/C, MP3 deck with aux inputs, 12V aux power outlet etc etc
Thought it was quite pricey even for the manual model, but then i remembered that is AWD so i think the price is ok considering

I thought the auto transmission was a bit stupid really, felt a bit of a rubberband effect similar to CVT's but i wasn't bothered by this since i'm interested in M/T.......the acceleration was fair, nothing spectacular while at the same time it wasn't as lazy

The looks of the car, i found great!
Just a bit worried abt the engine perfoirmance of the car....anyone else test drive it? Is it better than the 2007 model in terms of acc? How does it compare to the other sedans (Corolla, Civic, Lancer) on the market?

The 2k8 1.5R is a good car, it has upgraded features (DOHC, rear disc brakes, lightened body) than the previous year models of the 1.6ts and the i think that the hp rating is a bit more... but personally i wouldn't pay 165K for a 1.5R, i know the car is new but if it were me i would have gone for a roro wrx.

^^^^ yea, i wouldn't mind buying the roro WRX but most likely that won't sit well with my parents and they won't give me the $ for it

if your parents would spend the money on the 1.5R, convince them that the wrx is better

but it hav plenty potential
after warranty out it is cheaper to get an engine an put it in
an upgrade brakes an suspension etc...
than buyin the wrx brand new
at least daz my plan rite now

^^i'm sure a lot of ppl wud disagree with u there......brakes, suspension, AWD tranny, slip differentials is rell $.....an den, ur gearbox still wudnt be like the WRX either

buddy a 2.0r brand new was 200k far less for a wrx
u go lookin in d bamboo or check ppl on dis site an u will get what u want without breakin urself in half
a ej20t w/tranny went for 10 or scoobytnt an d man sellin d front suspension an all kinda goodies at good prices
even still u doh believe go bamboo an check gobin an u go c what is cheaper

looks tame compared to its model of yore and the new 1.5 DOHC engine is slightly more powerful than the 1.6 SOHC engine. Increased weight and slightly lazier tranny doesn't help acceleration which IMHO is poor. The new Yaris 1.3 feels much faster but heck its alot lighter but sh!t man, why must I spend so much money to be blown away by a Yaris? Those lil' suckers could handle too yuh know.

bro buy ah turbo legacy.. its around 180 k and its ah luxury sports .. trust me dat car sweet and it answers when yuh ask!!!!!!!!

well, if ur parents buying, go with the brand new car. they know how much trouble no warranty is, and all that stuff.

if was a personal choice of mine, i woulda go with a turbocharged car......but is this ride your first?
