^^^
40+ competitors now. great.
7 classes.
multiply by 2, for each class. 14 * 3, sets of trophies / hampers / etc.

/me wonders if there is something simpler / more effective?

SR wrote:hence you have 2 classes within the one class

ie

ESP for straight power to rate then ESP R or sport or whatever for additional mods ie tyres suspension etc

wasnt it like this years ago

tried tested and failed ..... many classes were left un constituted..

i think the point system works fine .... but could use revision in the esp + classes ....as some mods carry to many points and some to little

doesnt make the difference what the competiton is
there is always going to be issues
its the same issues we have with iasca and classes
however sponsorship is key to having trophies for classes

in essence 14 classes

its up to the management to decide distribution

botom line its simple if a class does have have a minimum amount of competitors then obviously you can afford to give out 1st tru 3rd

or is it prize giving is more important than fair competitions

again sponsoship and proper marketing of the sport will assist in this

its up to the people in charge to decide how they want to move forward on this

other than on a website how else is solodex marketed to the general public
what is done to generate new interest and bring in spectators

solodex cannot afford to be running as a "grassroots" community and needs to take better management decisions for its operations

the run as a weekend hobby puts strain on the few individuals who have to do basically everything

some of these points i raised in meetings in the past but no one really seems to be interested in taking solodex to the next level

it comes down to marketing of it
why doesnt solodex attract more spectators?

you will continue to have issues with classifications and there is no way you can pelase everyone but
keep your rules as fair as possible and keep to a standard even it it means having 14 classes instead of 7
and cuttting back on trophies/hampers based on present budgets

as for marketing
maybe cars needs to review the present proceedures

I think we need to let the current formula run for a while before drawing any conclusions. As for spectators, even the SCCA has challenges pulling a crowd. Dex is one those sports that really has more appeal for participants than spectators. I think the club has done well to pull sponsors over the last few years. To the casual observer it may not look like much, but a lot of people have put in a lot of time and energy behind it.
Finally, 14 classes will just be too consfusing, especially for newcomers. And there will still be de bates over cars that do not quite fit, or sit on the fence........it all again comes back to who is willing to race, and by the looks of the numbers, it's a lot :!:

Apart for all the usual BS, one of the reasons im never on this site anymore is because when people raise a point or subject that the God's don't really like, the thread gets locked down.. :?

I am glad to see you guys coming up with ideas about how to make things work. just as someone once said you cant please all the people all the time. This is a democracy so the Members of the club all have a say.

We are a friendly group of people that dont have any in fighting. where has the love gone?

If someone does a backyard chop job, adds gobs of power without dealing with suspension issues too, that is their problem and will never be competative in SoloDex. That is an entirely different story, but unfortunately, that guy will also be classed based on PW/R and not idiotic modding.

sounds like someone i know

which was always the idea behind open discussion.
i mean if rubbish is being spewed, there's no amount of dressing for that.
but if ppl could bring sense and data, and others could contribute freely......... how on earth could that go wrong?
