I predict Barrichello over Button, unless there are team orders or something. Rubens is the better driver of the two.

F1 DIFFUSER ROW HEADING FOR FIA COURT

Written by: SPEED Staff / GMM 03/26/2009 - 11:18 PM

Melbourne (AUS) With the stewards rejecting the diffuser protest on Thursday, the main controversy at the scene of the Australian Grand Prix got set to take its next steps.

Hinting at yet another protest against Brawn, Williams and Toyota after Sunday's chequered flag, Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo told the La Repubblica newspaper that he "can't rule out an angry gesture" at the end of the season opener.

The three teams' diffuser designs, while technically legal according to the regulations, contravene the "spirit" of the rules, the protesting teams argued in detailed protests numbering dozens of pages.

In first Friday practice, Williams was first and second fastest, while both Brawns were also within the top six.

Germany's Auto Motorund Sport publication, meanwhile, reports that the protesting teams - Ferrari, Red Bull and Renault (BMW's protest was not allowed) - are indeed intending to now send the case to the FIA Court of Appeal.

They have already informed the stewards of their intention, which must be backed up with letters within two days.

^We'll see about that when the diffuser fiasco sorts itself out...
You won't really see truly how fast the teams are in comparison until they get back to Europe and the teams all get the chance to redesign the back to something consistent, whether it be the 7 teams looking for air or the 3 teams closing it off...
Brawn GP right now is just living off the groundwork Honda had put in for this year throughout most of last season - rembr they started developing the car early - much earlier than the rest...
Also stupid that Toyota would still put a flexible rear wing after everything last year about it...

BTW notice how heavy Heidfeld, Kovaleinen and Alonso are running...will be interesting to see the effect on the slicks' graining...

Schummi is part of Ferrari's team...he's there for all the races yo

Button flew off from the start...expected...
Star of the race is Vettel and RBR - no KERS and no trick diffuser, yet one of the fastest on the track...
Barichello driving like a kant...poor start, caused the big accident by running down the centre, then went into the back of Kimi and punctured his rear tyre...

Seeing alot of cars keeping close to each other but not the overtaking as expected...
Funniest thing was watching Hami struggling to pass cars eons slower and heavier than him..

Safety car period turned out ok...did alot better than recent years to keep the same running order without throwing the race around unfairly...
Other than the rear diffuser of some cars giving an advantage, the race has improved and been more unpredicatble and exciting imho...
Also, the point i made some days ago about Renault and the KERS..coming to life now...Glock in the clearly faster car just said on his radio that he can't pass Alonso because everytime he gets close FA uses the KERS...

Oh how lucky is hami...first got a break with his pitstop at the safety car period...then the cars in front of him taking themselves off lol...

Congrats to Brawn racing, but reality is gona hit them like a ton of bricks when this diffuser issue is sorted out...
Also, i fail to see how Barichello is still in this race after causing the bad accident at the start then going into the back of Kimi and pushing him out of the way...

what a race.. hats off to the Brawn-Mercedes team on first and second and to Toyota's Jarno Trulli in third (who started from pit lane  )

Disappointment for some of the teams as well as drivers, that Kubica-Vettel incident especially

^The ferraris started strongly...did quite well keeping 3rd and 5th for awhile...then Rubens damaged Kimi's car and Massa eventually had to retire with a problem, but like the RBR they showed that they are closer to the front than people thought they would be...
