Second that... it really really really is sweet :!:
Those lights do it for me boy.. geez....

Have heard from experienced ppl (who have owned a couple) that they are prone to electrical problems.. stator coil going often etc.... and the location of the oil pan puts a LOT of heat on your leg....
But then again they owned more than one sooo i guess it was still enough in the bike to buy another lol

I had an 07 R1 and yes, the R1 is one of the best looking bikes ever made. Never had any mechanical or electrical problems on it though.
Looking to buy a 2010 R1. :D
Soon as the 2010 colors come out in September, I am gonna order one. :D
The bike really does get hot in traffic. Solution, dont stop. Ride faster.

There is a new R6 coming out already? I thought the 2008 R6 was a new bike? I currently have the 2008 R6.
2009 Was the first year for this new R1 so I figure the 2010 R1 should have all the bugs worked out.
Ducati Monster is a very nice bike. :P

Ducati Monster is a very nice bike. :P

yea the next R6 (2010 model) should be the new one. the 2008 was the last update, but history shows they change the bike every 2 years, so a new bike should be launched in September, but as usual it wont hit the market till late December, early January.

i was just reading an article on what is expected for the new R6, more than likely it wont have the cross plane crankshaft, but it will be coming out with something new engine wise.........just not sure what it will be.....Yamaha is usually quite quiet about it..............i know for a fact though that there are a few tuning companies like Graves and McCoys motorsports helped develop the new R1, and i doubt it would be any different for the R6, but the ppl at both those tuning companies keep tight lipped too............

most ppl hesitate to buy the first year bike.........but some take the dive and get it..........sometimes it works out, sometimes no.......personally i would have done the same thing u are doing...........waiting.

BTW there are exhaust systems out for the new R1 already.......get the full system, not the slip on........full system saves on weight and gives somewhere in the region of 20hp with tuning.........thats a lot for a bike already close to 170bhp.........u'll be running modded busa's with that power....

^^^^i like the look of them......and they are european made i think......which is usually better than US made  (wish the yanks could realise that   )

Graves brought out a shorty full system for the new R1 as well......it looks good from the side, but the tail looks naked without the cans there........personally i dont like the twin undertail cans, i prefer the single undertail like the honda and kawasaki bikes...it looks more badass...........

dont know if i posted this pic before, but i guess its worth a repost

I actually prefer the dual undertail exhaust. I think it looks meaner than the single undertail exhaust.

^^^^damn
thats a nice colour :P

while u had it, did it ever give any trouble? i know bikes are unreliable at times........even with good maintenance and no hard running............someone i was speaking to said its mostly because of how many things need to be in such a small thing.

Never had any problem with it while I had it.
The new owner also has had no problem with it.
It runs like a charm.
Yeah, I always loved that Candy Red color on that bike.

^^ok thats cool.....

thing about a ducati, the service intervals are short, and then they need valve adjustments often.........and there are no dealers in T&T(well to my knowledge there arent any), so thats a headache right there..........

this is the one i like, the 2009 monster 1100S, i like the white, but the frame on the white one is only available in black......i think it would look better if the white had a red frame....but ducati thinks otherwise..........
Image
Image
there is also a serious design flaw.......notice the oil filter......if a stone hits it, it could rupture, oil then falls onto the road......exactly where the rear tire will run...........that wont end well.........they should have at least put some sort of shield there...........

Very sweet lookin bike. I agree with you about white with red frame. That would have been insane.
Naked bikes look cool, but at speed the wind really fights you.
I rode a MV Agusta Brutale once. Did not like it much. Sweet bike but the lack of fairings did not help much with the wind.

the brutale is pretty much the exact same bike.....engine is a different, think its closer to the S# series monsters..........saw one in south, has some kind of sparkly paint, and red Marchesini rims........looked like it flipped, headlight was broken, rear faring was scratched, top of the instruments, and some of the plastics by the brake lever was scraped up........quick though, very quick

i understand what you're saying about the wind.....the lack of a windscreen has a lot to do with it as well..........and its a more upright riding position too....so more wind........i guess its like the car you only bring out once every month or so.......just to make a long run, not too fast, but just to enjoy it and then cover it back up............pretty much like most Ferrari cars

^^^^the power from it is mad in a bike like that.........155bhp.....compared to the monster's 95bhp
but i dont really like its looks too much, looks too "busy", it has too many lines and sharp corners, like the designer only had a ruler to design it  (reminds me a bit of the Vyrus), and the headlight looks like it came from a scooter
it does have some nice points though.....its liquid cooled unlike the monster....which is a plus in traffic :|
it has 4 valves per cylinder.....and the rear looks good (the only perspective i'll ever see it from anyway )

no doubt if i was on a monster, that bike would have me eating dust :P

I liked the yellow. I liked the flames.
Also the only other color I liked was the Eurospec White. But a friend of mine ordered that one. His is the only eurospec 2008 R6 in the country.
For the R1 though, I will be limiting myself to the Eurospec colors only.
However, my friend who has the R6 is also ordering the R1. So two eurospec R1's will be ordered, most likely the Black and the White.
And right now, I can safely say that I am very happy with my choice of color as in person I think the yellow looks better than the white, and there is only one other yellow on the road. His is very stock and mine has some nice little accessories to make it look different.
