we have actually

just our level of thinking is not evolving

pepper spray, tear gas, tazers and all other non lethal forms of crowd control doesn't fit with the "iz-police-and-i-have-liscence-kill-image"

it looked as if they where infact hoping someone opened fire just to squeze off a few in the crowd

with that said is there any protocol WRT discharging a firearm in public that our local armed forces supposed to adhere to?

If you are going to try to do that then great but don't rely on the success of the drive in Laventille in order to undertake the drive in other areas.

Realise that you'll get real opposition inside Laventille itself. You've never read about the activists who try to make the place better getting firebombed and shot at by people who profit by the status quo?

Remember that there is a big industry in dependence. If a mother can't support her family, the gangs will support her through her sons. Someone with the best of intentions interfering with that dynamic is not looked on with much tolerance.

Yup that is why we will continue to be a third world nation...

The SWAT team consisted of couple of men which is beyond comprehension. Why only a few would be sent to apprehend a suspect considering the area and there loyalties.

It looked like they did not know what to do, so pointing there weapons was there only option...
