Grand Vitara - Any Good?

Postby V2NR 3.0 » May 20th, 2009, 1:04 pm

Guys,

Im a former suzuki owner - however only to the Jimny. I can attest to this vehicle's durability. Im considering this vehicle, is it any good in terms of reliability, gas consumption, durability, availability of parts etc.

Some feedback from you Zuki tuners would be appreciated.

Is this a good price ?

I'm a Suzuki owner (x2), but MY Grand Vitaras aren't the model you're inquiring about. :)

i have the 2.0L model to that one and absolutely love it! i'm not afraid to drive it anywhere, the engine is very strong and the handling is pretty sporty..

for fuel consumption, i'd recommend the larger 2.0L model as it moves much more effortlessly on the road vs the tiny 1.6l..

reliability... i had to change the fuel pump, one of the transformer thingys that send the electrical signal to the spark plugs (i forgot the name..), the cam shaft sensor, a rear drum (mechanic's fault), the front stabiliser links, one front control arm (ball joint went bad) and the engine mounts in my 5 years of ownership..

yeah, that kinda sounds like plenty but most of those parts were still original equipment and my ride has close to 240,000kms on it..

for parts, try..

I owned the old model pictured, though it was the 2 l. I upgraded to the new model. These vehicles are great and well suited for Trinidad. I test drove the 1.6, but will not advise you to get it as it is very sluggish. The 2 l is a dream. I now own the new model 2 l and it is a better ride than the old model. I would recommend either one. The new ones are now available in a 2.4 l 4 cylinder and a 2.7 v6.

Actually the new ones (2009 model) are available in 2.0L I4, 2.4L I4 and 3.2L V6. The 2.7 V6 is 2006/08 stock.

Wow. Too bad mine is only a year old, so I can't trade up just yet. :( I can just imagine how that moves.
