pity the tree branch is at the top

actually the branch makes it better IMHO......helps 'frame' the subject and adds perspective
I actually LOOK for stuff like that to add character to shots like these

^^^I agree, that tree branch adds a lot to it, great shot.

so I decided to go through all my pictures and pick out ones that I "thought" were good but not good enough for flickr. For some reason or another, I didn't think that they were good enough to show around for different reasons that I can't remember. I'm gonna dump them here because they're not that bad...

I was playing with the wide angle effect my camera gives.........no depth of field makes for some interesting shots......I really like how the third one (with the wave crashing on the rock / still water in tidal pol) came out......the hermit crab took a lot of patience...timid lil fella
I really love Toco....it always gives something new to shoot........pity it was so hazy on sunday tho

I like this. The lighting adds to the "grunginess" of it

So do I!! guys what effect does that, or what enhancements do you use to get that, it's not HDR right?
I saw it in a natural way it fluorescent lighting and the black stained background and took it.

Congratulations sir. Babies are beautiful, hands down. There are some creative things you can do for some great shots.
For example.

Congrats Anton,

Might start a new job at Shoot Digital, but they wanted to see my abilities via a product test at 300dpi. Here's the render I sent them based off a Clinique lipstick advertisment:

R.Mutt that render is WICKED!

its an increase a in contrast especially between the darks and the midtones - some may punch the highlights a bit and run a sharpen. But its definitely an increase in contrast.

Lightroom has some presets that can achieve this and the "300" grain does this too, even though it also drops most colour except red.
