makers of 3COM products

on a related note, many RFPs being issued are stating that networking/teleComm equipment manufactured in China is/will be disqualified.

They reversed engineered CISCO technology and were hit with a major cease and decist lawsuit. Everthing they sell looks exactly like CISCO. Just costs alot less.
Monies were paid and agreements were made.

Not sure about them making 3COM products.

they are actually the company that bought over 3coms market in latin america .. however in telecom house in london england once used their equipment and have replaced it due to non compliance to industry standards and it was found that the firmware found on thier equipment was actually reversed eng cisco technology . and had serious serious flaws that compromised more than half of england core internet backbone network , secure connections andother networks throughout greater europe . now they have came here to dump their 3 rate garbage on the unsuspecting companies here it is a known fact that tstt and digicel uses hauwei layer 3 switches and routers on thier core network and often wonder why they have problem which affects their customer base .......... for those of us who are in the corporate IT field pls dont even entertain the idea of implementing this brand of equip unto your core network or frontend

Huawei is a MASSIVE telecomm equipment and service provider that is growing RAPIDLY even amid this recession.

That said, while their products are generally good, their support is piss poor. There are few experts who speak english well. Everyone else speaks messed up chinese.

Also, there literally hundreds of lawsuits against Huawei at the moment.

They have basically copied ericsson's product line, while claiming to have 'reverse' engineered it. However, exact code and exact hardware designs from ericsson (among many others) have been found in Huawei equipment.

Lastly, their price is basically half as cheap or less than competitors....meaning that if you can live with some flaws, then you're all set.

currently I have the same issues with process engineering with the Chinese manufactured items from WASA to Upstream companies.

half the price and poor on quality yet high demand in Trinidad which is crippling GOOD QUALITY manufactured products.

But back to Huawei, from what they offer I see they can dominate our market since we are price sensitive, I maybe wrong, But how do you for see this?
Do you see them having a strong presence in our market?
From my research they are big in Latin America, as well as regionally, they have gained a presence. Within the Trinidad boundaries they are expanding.

From what I've been told they had a joint venture with 3Com where the later made the hardware, then they tried to buy 3Com and the US regulatory agency didn't allow it.

I believe India banned Huawei equipment because they found spyware.

It is true that Huawei is usually half the price than other manufactures.

They are getting very large, I read that they've passed Cisco in the sale of routers and switches. They actually won a massive contract in Germany which resulted in Nokia Siemens downsizing it's operation.

They're like the Vizio of tv, they give you what you need at a cheaper price.

Not to be a jerk but there name is funny 'Huawei : who-are-we'

On networking equipment in any technology I wouldn't stray far from
1. an established mfg & industry proven.
2. one you can get support on
3. on you can get warranty and timely replacements
