i think the air locker is 1300 us..anyone could install it ? or is it specific people?

you can always install an ARB air locker and under body armour if that's what you want to do with the Nav.

Any idea how much those mods are gonna cost?

No clue ... Also in general, you want to be really careful if you install a locker in the IFS as it really wasn't designed for that, but you are safe installing a locker in the rear.

No ARB air lockers available for the front of the Nav anyway (last I checked) so that's a non-issue.

But, I dunno, turning a brand new Nav into an off-roader ... Seems unnecessarily expensive to me, plus you have to make sure none of this will void your warranty.

about 15-20K to have the Air locker shipped and installed, another 5K for underbody armour, just to put you (maybe) level with a stock hilux off road??

Seems, not to be the best move to me.

First off the section for 'Frontier, Xterra, Navara Pickup, wagon: clearly states that ARB-RD149 is for the 2005 model onwards in the REAR.

Also, if you note what's available for the front (2005 onwards), there's something TBA (to be announced) for the 6-cylinder variant, but nothing available yet...

Finally a quick google search : nissan navara d40 front locker

suggests that one should be coming ... but nothing yet

From some inquiries made directly to ARB:

Well guys after sending in a couple of queries via the ARB Website, they have replied with the following Quote / UnQuote

Hi again Nick,

The D40 front is still not started. It will definitely go ahead when the current list of Air Lockers we are working on is completed.
Our estimate of what that means in terms of when you could see one is the second quarter of 2010, ie between April and June.

Well thats as official information as i can get for you guys. Lets just hope ARB sticks to it and releases this locker next year as promised.

I must admit "Greg" the guy mentioned above did some great work chasing this up for me even after i annoyed him for a bit.

Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

No scene ... No ARB for the front for the Ranger / Bt-50 either. Of the new trucks on the market, only the L200 and Hilux have front air lockers available ... Well, last I checked anyway

apparently the navaras that they claim have lsd has an electronic program that acts like a lsd in 4 lo or sumtn like that .. it stops the wheels that have no traction by "applying brakes"..so its a simulated lsd..

The local Nav is a sweet road warrior, saw a white one on 18' toyo's that looked awesome ... And off-road destroyer, it is not.

I dunno na, I was planning to keep the rims stock, dont want any suspension issues and also there are a few "shortcuts" I use to reach home that aren't really roads.

But those rims tempting me

learning experience when van is on a steep incline:

Apparently its a flaw design in the fuel tank of the Navara. with a 1/4 tank or under the tank has a cavity that allows the fuel to collect where the pump cannot activate.

Solution: the left side of the engine bay has a fuel filter with a knob on top. Pump it till you bleed the air out and tumble. Note you need two persons to do this, one person respective for each Job.
In 5 seconds the issue was solved and he informed me its a common problem and it is nothing to be alarmed about.

Van drove perfect after no issues.

more advice for Nav owners who have the Algae-X inline fuel conditioner installed. add cleaning of the conditioner to your every 10K services. the gunk builds up in it after a time and causes the van to smoke and lose power.

for those considering installing the Algae-X, Achievors has it for $1600 plus installation (which can be done by any mech)

Thick black smoke for the first 5-10 mins after start and driving

Dealer said its dirty diesel. Never got around to installing the pre-filter...

Wanted to bring it in myself once I could get the correct model number

just a word of advice... use your 4x4 atleast if is just a switch to 4x4 hi and then lo .. just to move the parts because my dad didnt use his 4 a while .. and when i tried it out .. it got stuck in 4 lo .. after it got unstuck it worked like a charm... i guess the parts just need to move regularly.. idk jus givin my advice..

after reading all of the pages I am glad that all of the little problems are common. But I have a unique situtation as follows:
TPS Sensor(throttle position Sensor)
I was leaving Mileage Mack in Sando made a hard left towards lights (small in the sideways action) took my foot off of the accelerator for the brake at the light. Light turned green then when i went back on the gas NO POWER. Engine idling but no power. Switch off then back on power came back....strange I thought.... called mechanic drove to his place ran diagnostic code came up TPS Sensor went crazy??!! reset ECU. The problem never came back hope it never does just sharing an experience. BTW truck is RORO bought second hand but it originally came from M Ramp. I bought the truck with very little mileage from the original owner.
Oh something else machined the front rotors once already as well the driver side was really bad. I spoke to friend that has a rental company and he told me that Massy has replaced all of the rotors twice on his rental Navarras .... go figure!!!

Doodle270, i experienced that before. I believe it has to do with the e throttle. In fact i had a vrg Galant that also had an e throttle. I used to get this problem like once a year. When it happened to me in the Navara, i checked the x pedal to see if it was an electronic system and yup...it was.
Basically nothing to be concerned about, restart and everything is cool. By the way i have the Nav a year now and it only happened once.

never had any problems with the TPS or rotors...

water free as well..


mainly due to the fact the vehicle has 2 fuel filters...

cnahged both last service...

also remember this fellas...if you enocunter an air lock...simply prime the van and you good to go.

no need to bleed injectors any more...
