nah you cant just format/change it just so. The baseband is a seperate cpu module. Tell your padna to wait about a month or two again. Everyone enforces that if you are unlock, never update using iTunes. People do make mistakes and its a hard price to pay especially 3GS' but sadly there are no other options. Also, dont waste your time looking to "buy" an unlock eh. Once there is an unlock available, for 05.12, SRASC,mitch or I will post it ASAP.

Gull1hack to Jailbreak iPhone 3GS New Bootrom Untethered?

A group of hackers are claiming to have found an exploit which will jailbreak iPhone 3GS with new bootrom and it will be untethered. The exploit appears to work not only in iPhone 3GS models with new bootrom, but also in all iPhone and iPod touch
models.

tbh, i dont think we're going to see an unlock for the 5.12 baseband.
the dev team themselves have said that they dont want to reveal any new exploits to Apple since the next major firmware update is only a couple months away and the 3.2 firmware is already in beta 3

not sure what geohot's take on it is but he doesnt seem to interested in it either

We aren’t revealing any new exploits to Apple with this jailbreak. Everything here has been used before, it’s just a straightforward port of Pwnage2 and 24Kpwn to the new firmware. It’s possible the new firmware was released largely to flush out new exploits before the next big release. We won’t be biting.

the unlock is there. So hopefully Apple doesnt fix that exploit and the update comes soon. Isnt 3.2 the iPad firmware not iPhone though?

and TBH if 3.2 is indeed for iphone as well, it should be released in march and then 4.0 in july along with the 4G iPhone.

well they call it the iphone 3.2 SDK which i assume is really for developers to upgrade their iphone apps to work on the ipad as well as develop new apps specifically for the ipad

so yeah i think 3.2 is going to be released for the iphone at the end of march when the first ipads are released, then the major update 4.0 for both iphone and ipad will come with the 4G iphone

Apple's new iPhone is expected to have a lower total cost of ownership and add new gesture based functionality.

Morgan Stanley research has found that the highest barrier to greater iPhone adoption is the cost of hardware, followed by the service plan.

Analyst Katy Huberty expects Apple to introduce a new model in June that will be economically friendly to even more consumers.

"We expect Apple to launch new iPhones in June that offer both a lower total cost of ownership and new functionality, potentially including gesture-based technology," she wrote.

Huberty is bullish on Apple's stock and optimistic about the iPad.

"We expect Apple to ship its first iPad and announce additional content deals in late March to better than expected demand," Huberty wrote. "We see the iPad targeting the sub-$800 consumer notebook market which equates to 30M annual units just in the US (120M globally)."

Steve Jobs personally called the winner of the 10 Billion Song Downloads contest to let him know he had won the contest and would be receiving a $10,000 iTunes gift card.

Best bet is to google it. But what i did to save time was save my xml library file and do this:
http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=2137

That file is located here:
C:\Users\MIBaksh\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music Library.xml

Sorry but i dont use iTunes for my playlists but that above file should cover it. Remember to use a hex editor to edit the other file.

Long story nose of the boat stabbed through a huge wave on the north coast and iPhone took a swim! I opened it up to dry lastnight cuz it wasn't working tooo good. This morn everything works but the silent knob and the loud speaker.... Can any one help me to get this fixed ???? Or do I have to buy a new one :(

Sometimes I think that Apple knows how much the press and blogs like to follow its every move, and throws fake clues out there. This is one of those times.

Apple applied this week for a trademark on the term “Magic Trackpad.â€

Question for the Gurus. My 3GS came with 3.1.2 and BB 05.11.07 on it, thus it has to be a tethered jailbreak.

Today one of my friends showed me his 3GS which he bought on eBay. It has 3.1.2 and has bb 05.11.07 on it, yet it is untethered. How is this possible? I thought as long as your bb is 05.11.07 you would need to be tethered because they havent found (or not releasing) an exploit yet?

Can someone clarify? It does show a black screen with the pineapple logo on it when booting.

he has an older bootrom which allows for the untethered jb.

only the newest bootroms use a tethered jb. depends on when the phone was manufactured...

A new package has been released in Cydia which finally provides a way to fix push notifications for hacktivated iPhones.

The fix which was developed by anethema gives you genuine activation certifications that are always unique. Previous fixes resulted in activation certifications being shared with other users.

"I've found a way to generate these en-masse to supply a proper fix for all you hacktivators out there. Installing the app will simply download and inject unique certs into your phone's keychain. This is still using the dev-team's inject and nimble and a ton of this credit should be going to them."

Anethema notes that numerous people were involved in making this fix possible including: Aviegas, Volkspost, Olethros, dtube, The iPhone Dev-Team, CPICH, planetbeing, geohot, EvilPenguin|, BigBoss, cmdshft, and sjohnson.

To install the fix simply add http://cmdshft.ipwn.me/apt/ to your Cydia sources then install the "Push Doctor" package.

^^^ may be very problematic to install. Some say its cause of the initial demand. I'd like to think so...

Very much so... from ihackintosh...

Update via CmdShft : If you’re having an issue with installing Push Doctor and you cannot get push working, it’s because the server it’s getting your unique cert from is actually out of certs. The demand is very high apparently, and @anethema is now generating 1 unique cert per minute to put on the server. Try every few hours, eventually it will work. Any errors just means the same that it cannot find a unique cert. Just "reinstall" the package later or the next day.

I just tried to and no success.

It's quite a heavy package as well...
