Manchester United's fine pre-season continue with a 7-1 success over an Airtricity League XI in Dublin at the Aviva Stadium.
South Korean ace Park Ji-sung opened the scoring with Michael Owen doubling United's advantage soon after.
The floodgates opened in the second half after Mexican striker Javier Hernandez made it 3-0 on 47 minutes.
Antonio Valencia got in on the act with Park adding his second before Jonny Evans made it 6-0 to the Premier League giants.
St Patricks' Dave Mulcahy did give the home faithful something to cheer when he pulled one back, but a late seventh from Nani from the penalty spot capped a fine success.
There was plenty of red though as the Irish supporters showed which English team remain the club of choice on the Emerald Isle, and plenty of sympathy for Rooney too as he kept himself busy on his return to action after that sorry World Cup and those fairly damning pictures.
Rooney should have found the net before the break. Instead, he dragged one effort wide from an acute angle before blazing a better chance over when he latched onto the rebound from Darron Gibson's shot.
Manchester United have struck an agreement which will see Portuguese striker Bebe move to Old Trafford.
The 20-year-old will join United subject to passing a medical later in the week.
The Red Devils have already agreed a deal with Bebe's current employers Vitoria Guimaraes.
Personal terms have also been ironed out, paving the way for the move to be completed.
The youngster will move to England for an undisclosed fee, bolstering United's attacking unit in the process.
Reports suggest the fee involved could be somewhere in the region of £7.4million.
Sir Alex Ferguson has swooped for the burly frontman just five weeks after he signed for Guimaraes, agreeing to match his buy-out clause.
Bebe had been recommended to the United boss by the club's former assistant manager Carlos Queiroz, who is now in charge of the Portugal national side.
He has shown his potential during pre-season with a number of well-taken goals and will bring power and pace to the Red Devils' frontline.
His arrival does come as something of a surprise, though, as United already have eight senior strikers on their books and Ferguson has often stated that he was not looking to add to his squad.
i wonder if fergie is buying him as a striker or plans to convert him to a winger...he's got a heck of a cross with his left and a solid shot with his right..
Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed Manchester United made a quick decision on the signing of Bebe as other clubs were beginning to show interest.
Bebe, 20, is joining from Portuguese club Vitoria de Guimaraes after United agreed to pay his release clause, believed to be in the region of £7 million. He had signed from Estrela da Amadora in the Portuguese third division only five weeks earlier.
However, it was reported that Real Madrid were keen on the player and, after Ferguson received a recommendation from Portugal boss Carlos Queiroz, he decided United should make their move.
"It's one of these things that when you identify someone of potential we normally would assess over a longer period but we do scout Portugal and he's very bright and he's got tremendous instinct," he said. "He's two footed and he's very quick. There's material there.
"Other clubs were starting to hover on the boy and so we made a quick decision and said, 'Well, why don't we go for it?' He's got material and I'm sure we can work with that. He's young and we're good at young players really, so that's the reason."
Bebe played football in a homeless team during a brief spell on the streets and Ferguson added: "It is a fairytale when you read about his background, but it is one of those things that happens when you identify someone with potential.
"He doesn't speak any English, so that needs to be addressed, and we need to allow him to settle in, but sometimes you have to work on an impulse."
