Tunnel FTMFW
for too long have the people of this country been forced to endure that cool scenic drive, which required some driving skill, and presence of mind, to get to their bake and shark. This tunnel will aide the nation's traffic problems significantly.

N3M3SIS wrote:horrible, horrible plan by the government. This system is going to be abused SO BAD EH. Our problem is the backwards mentality of the parents in this country. Children at the age of twelve SHOULD NOT HAVE INTERNET ACCESS. There are books that have all the relevant information they would need to do their assignment.
Most of these kids will not have proper supervision while using these machines as they would be allowed to take them off school grounds. Most parents and even kids will not see it as a big deal but using internet and not knowing the inherent dangers of the internet can cause serious damage.
It will also create space for abuse. Kids will now be studying each other business on facebook and making/watching porn rather than sitting behind a book and studying. There have been studies that show people who use facebook have 20% lower scores during exam time (DURR!!!). So hey, let's just give a bunch of 12 year olds some computers, they are obviously responsible enough to handle $3000+ pieces of equipment and are obviously all going straight home to loving, responsible parents who will keep the laptops in the family room while ensuring proper supervision.
I MEAN WHAT CAN POSSIBLY GO WRONG AMIRIGHT!!!![]()

I real laugh when N3M3SIS criticized parents for having backwards mentalities and then write big and bold that 12-year-old children should not have internet access.
That's about as back-asswards an attitude as I can think of in this situation. Children should have access and exposure to the internet (and all media) from as early an age as possible. Just supervise and guide them. Educate them and always encourage them to think about the medium.
I already surf the net and play online games with my 10-month-old.
Success Laventille, South East get SEA laptops today
The distribution of laptops would begin today, with 327 of them being handed out to form one students of Success Laventille Secondary School, Eastern Main Road in Laventille and South East Port-of-Spain Secondary School on Nelson Street in Port-of-Spain.
The Ministry of Education stated in a release that the distribution process would continue through November.
Today’s distribution would launch Government’s eConnect and Learn, Student Laptop programme.
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who returned from the 65th United Nation’s General Assembly’s Millennium Development Goals Summit in New York earlier this morning, and Minister of Education Dr Tim Gopeesingh would make the official presentation of the laptops to the students at about 1 pm.
Last Friday, 3,000 Hewlett Packard (HP) HP425 laptops, the first batch of laptops promised to successful students of the 2010 Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) examination by the People’s Partnership Government, arrived in the country.
Gopeesingh said a second batch of laptops would arrive in two weeks.
HP was awarded an $83 million contract to supply 24,000 fully loaded laptops. Out of eight bids, HP, Acer and Fujitsu were selected as the top three.
Gopeesingh previously said HP was selected on the basis of pricing and the assurance of the machines’ relevance and applicability.
The laptops were outfitted with faster processing speeds, improved wireless capability, Bluetooth (wireless) connectivity, larger internal storage, faster hard drive speed, extended battery life, Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 and Learning Essentials 2.0 for Microsoft Office.
When calculated, the average cost of one laptop worked out to be $4,068.
