Knocking noise

Postby sr18de » July 19th, 2004, 12:43 pm

i was wondering if anyone can help me. I have recently changed the left front lower cradle, and installed a stablilizer bar on my Primera. The left and right axles have also been replaced on the car. When I drive the car in a straight line I hear a knocking noise. It does not occur all the time when I drive...just off and on. It occurs when I mash the gas, not when the car is rolling and not when it is bending corners.

Can anyone suggest a fix?

check back all things changed/installed such as cradle and sway bar
ensure the sway bar bushings are good and ball joint and also the end link for the sway bar
my b14 making the same kinda noise and the ball joints were bad so changed and still making but the end links for the sway are also bad so I guess thats the culprit there.

they would only work if yours are bad
when end links are bad, over rough terrain or cornering, i.e. when the bar works you would hear a click, bar hitting the sway bar
Art wants 4, the kit has 8, negotiate with him unless he wants all

i had clunking for a while when i changed all mt bushings to Poly and added a adj sway bars, it stopped though, but checking all bolts that were removed is a good idea.

dem end links in the sway bar does make real noise when the link is worn or bushings need changing. I recently changed mines.

superpro has a bushings application for the P11 Primera I emailed them a while ago and this was their response:

Hi Hayden

We do have a listing for the P11 Primera. The parts we can supply are as follows:

Front control arm lower front bush $57.81 kit (spf1217k)

Front control arm upper inner/outer eccentric bushes $367.00 (spf1381k)

I hope this has been of some help?

Kind Regards
