HELP: My rear left rotor getting extemely hot

Hey i need some help asap. My rear left rotor on my SIR civic is getting real hot. After driving for a while i noticed the rim was hot. I used an infrared temp meter and measured the rotor temps. The two front were about 90 degrees celcius and the back right was 73. When i measured the left rear it was 200. I took the car by the meachanic but he says the caliper is not stuck. I also had raised the wheel off the ground and the wheel was turning ok. Please i need some help. i dont want to warp my rotor or anything. My mechanic says the brake line may need changing. My master cylinder is also leaking slightly. Can this be the problem? All views are welcomed. Thank you!

ok what's happening mostlikely, is the fluid line to that wheel has collapsed inside and now needs replacing. however, if the lines are run independently from the master cylinder, then that is the cause, and you can replace the bubber seals in it. make sure to bleed over the entire system after and have your fluid changed yearly to prevent moisture build-up which may prevent such from re-occurring.

Well i changed the brake lines to the stainless steel ones and put new brake fluid. Guess what. Same problem. After i tested it out it was so hot i could hear crackling from the caliper. So its not the brake line. What is going on? Has anyone experienced this problem?

Could be the bearing

Hmmm. I dont think its the bearing because the pads on that wheel is wearing down at a much faster rate than the rest of the other wheels.

Well then your caliper probably binding ever so slightly to the rotor.. You may need to take off the caliper and service it completely and put it back on there..
Its not unheard of to be honest, N + M serviced my mom Cefiro a few yrs ago and apparently adjusted the front brakes badly.. Subsequent result? Almost no low end, bad fuel economy and warped front rotors... Try getting them to accept blame nah..

So yea, thats step 1.. Take the caliper apart and clean and lube the pistons.. they may not be returning entirely to their relaxed position..

same thing was happening to my lancer. Bought an oem rebuild kit for the caliper and problem fixed. do it immediately because you will loose braking; about 90-100% when the brake fluid boil and this happen to me too.

sticking caliper (not stuck) - perhaps it is engaging longer than the rest.
Feeling any pulling under hard braking?

I dont feel any pulling while braking but it could be because the problem is on the rear wheel. I adjusted the handbrake all the way down over the weekend after i discovered it was adjusted a little too high.(The handbrake lever on the caliper was not in the neutral position with the handbrake down). But that did not solve the problem. Does anyone know where i can get a good mechanic who can take apart the caliper totally and change all the seals? Does Autonation do good work?

do not go autonation for that....they will digout ur eye for that simple job.

simple DIY
take off the calipers,remove dustboot,remove the piston with air compressor or lightly tap the back of the piston from the brake line hole(yet to try mashing the brake pedal while still connected to lines to use fluid n send it out)
remove seal from inside with a flathead ...take piston,seal,dustboot to autorama/ne parts place and let them match it up.

rear disc- unscrew the piston with a very big flathead if you dont have a cube.


put a lil grease on the new seal and use brake fluid to lube up the piston itself so it will slide back in with ease....use old bpad and a c-clamp to gently slide the piston back into the caliper,make sure its goin in straight and not at an angle then tuck in the dustboot and ur all done....bleed system and test
