Anyone going to help

Postby oSaRi. » February 3rd, 2011, 8:19 pm

I am getting a knock, knock, knock, knock every time ah mash brakes to slow down. The noise is coming from the drivers side of ah ae100 corolla. The noise is more noticeable when decelerating to a stop. Also I am feeling the brakes pedal move up and down slightly every time I hear the noise.

I don't think it is the rotor discs case I changed them about 6 months ago

Could this problem be the brakes calipers or the steering ends?

That can be caused by so much factors, bad bearings, steering ends (inner & outer) Cradle, ball joints, axles. incl what you mentioned.
Get the car on a ramp and have someone who knows what he's doing check it.

that's a warped rotor. pulse on the brake pedal is caused by the warped rotor 'hopping' on the caliper/piston, the feedback is tranfered onto the brake pedal!

When you changed the discs, did you also change the pads?
Sounds like a rotor issue to me also.

When i had that problem with my B15 , it was the cradle that was bad so everytime the brakes was applied it would make noise, made me think something was gonna break out.

Thanks for the help I'll shim the rotors and see if that fix the problem. I bought new rotors about six months ago so I'm not buying new rotors again.
