If rivulet road isn't backed up then Preysal is. I don't know why they don't make an alternative road for people heading north to use to reduce THEIR traffic at the lights. Take for example the road by the cricket center. If they made an on ramp there so all northbound traffic could exit there, then the number of cars using rivulet road would diminish greatly and people heading south would also benefit.

Exactly, but they'll never use some common sense when it comes to traffic management, sometimes i wonder if the people that make the decisions even drive on the roads.

I think a solution like that at price plaza would work wonders. Overpass clear nowdays.

Honestly the MAIN problem with rivulet road is the timing of the lights. Whenever container trucks stop, especially on that hill at the end, they take very long to move off. The sensors seem to be set so if a car is not "seen" for 5 seconds they automatically switch the light to red. MOST afternoons I've seen 5 or 6 cars and then a truck and the truck takes long to move off and the light turns red after a total of like 15-20 seconds of being green. Meanwhile the line of traffic is stretching around the corner 1/2 way down the straight sometimes even to the end of it. If they set it so the light stayed green for 2-5 minutes traffic on Rivulet road would be greatly reduced.

As for the people heading south and going into couva.. I just bypass that overpass completely and head straight down to the next one. The road is not great but if you take your time it's not so bad.

they're going to make ramps at the Indian Trail overpass to send traffic into Point Lisas...

that kinda thing is a minimum requirement of what a government should do not to get road systems working properly and the condition of the roads kept in good order would be a major firetruck up on the governments part............ oh wait

NOOOOOOO.. now even more traffic on my route in the morning. What plans do they have for where indian trail exits onto Rivulet road? As it is there are hardly any cars/pickups passing there because the road is bad or people don't know about it and there are still long lines to go onto Rivulet road. If they do put in ramps there then you'll have big trucks, trailer trucks etc all tryign to pass on that road and I can see the villagers getting really upset about it and the road getting completely destroyed.

Another thing I think they should do is get rid of that STUPID traffic light on Rivulet road. Or at least make it take a minimum of 5 minutes before it turns from green to red for the SAME problem of trucks.

I don't normally pass there on a morning but was passing later than normal and they had no traffic on the overpass so I decided to pass there. HUGE mistake. Took like 15 minutes to get past that traffic light. Every time the light turned green 10-20 cars would pass through before it turned red, then everyone has to stop for TWO CARS to go across. If they doubled the time they had to wait then it would increase the throughput of cars on Rivulet road.

It depends on the day.. sometimes EVERYONE goes through Balmain and Rivulet road is empty. Other days it's the opposite. As I go further north I usually just head up through waterloo to chase village instead of stressing myself with rivulet road traffic.

Actually this was in the working for a while. I honestly am not sure of which regime is responsible....I could find out though.

New plans doesn't show any traffic lights. It should be free flow for all traffic. Looks good to me.

-a bypass ramp aka Grand bazaar frm the southbound to access Rivulet road.
-a underpass which continues at the last corner from the end of Rivulet road (by the highway triangle), under the off-ramp of the Couva exit (northbound lane) to access the northbound lane.
-all access/exit roads along Rivulet road limited to 'Left turn only' (eliminates lane crossing & resultant jams)
-remove all traffic lights (flyover & rivulet road).
.
alternatively...build a half-clover intersection .such an idea was proposed by Dr.M.Sampath abt 35 years ago and was scoffed at because the PNM thought was that the estate couldn't generate so much business to justify that.
.
we have much blood, sweat & tears to pay still

Had a guy who worked by us who never passed on Rivulet road, always took the back road from Pt. Lisas to Chaguanas. He didn't even know where Ato Boldon stadium was!
