lol thats what im always telling people with the whole gpu thing,
these days the cards are so powerful that there are few games that even push them,
i had a 9600gt for ages and the only games i couldn't run on max was metro 2033, crysis, gta4 and thats about it. anytime i say about my new build people are like you need to get a mobo with 3x pcie slots so you can crossfire your 5870 oh and saying that 8x slots would be slow (yeh right) 1 x16 slot with a good card is more than enough for most people.

seconded also I rather by one powerful card than SLI/crossfire, overall cost does be less, less power, less the need for a fancy motherboard, less driver issues, 8800gt can still run games, though not at the highest detail.
lets try a real world test like editing or transcoding HD video in Adobe Premier CS5 and see how the 4870 compares to the 460jm3 wrote:how come the 460 scores so low i pulled 7.6 on a 4870

I agree too but remember there are pros and cons to each setup and to each his own, in terms of one powerful card i would say that is more myth than truth how can one define one powerful card? because its faster than another brand, series? what is the criteria for one powerful card or is it just personal preference ? In some cases SLI does cost less am not sure of Crossfire as i have no real world experience with ATI cards frankly i dont like em PERSONAL PREFERENCE. According to AnandTech, 8800GT SLI beat a single GTX 280 and cost less

In terms of power come on who actually looks at there electricity bill and say omg my pc just pull 700watts if that was the case many people would be scared to even turn on there rigs![]()
You dont even need a fancy mobo people say you need 2x pcie 16 when 2 x 8 pcie shows no real difference, and as for driver issue that was a thing of the past way in the past.
I have my 8800gt still in my rig as a physx card all because i love it so much and only paid 400 for it

lol i know that but thats my point why does wei rate things so wrong? its kind of unfair because people will be using that as a method of comparing computers when they want to buy one

HC Overclocking guys... do you all allow your parts to "burn-in" for some time before cranking them up? or... as you get the parts... max it to its full performance?
