i have this set which i bought from firewall.these are crazy loud with good midbass even without doors deadened.its very clean, crystal clear sound and can take some power,my comps are powered on a RF T600-4.its in a wingroad by the way.these are one of the best sets out there in terms of power handling, sound quality and price maybe on par with other sets depending on where you get yours from.by the way they are not irritatingly loud like dj mids like 18 sound speakers but can get very loud without compromising sound quality.

where are you from? can I get a demo?

will you be attending the test & tune event?

I have my eyes on these because of the ridiculous power handling, frequency response & the review given here. I want to compare them against what I hear in some of the SQ competitors cars to make my decision.

tempo is in the same price bracket as the jbl i believe.. as for sound ive used the components before and they got really really nice tweeters for the price your paying for atleast imho.. and the coaxials which im using now sounds really good..

difference in sound has too many dependent factors, such as install and tuning but i bought the tempo comps blindly an i didnt expect too much output by i was quite surprised..if i wasnt very happy with the sound i wouldnt have tempos coax in my car right now to go with the elate upfront when i feeling gallery mode..

you shouldve heard enough morel cars to know they sound great and can be ridiculously loud.. if you ever reach south florida let me know..lets just say you cant sit in my car for too long with my volume up...

Yup, heard the morel speakers & was blown away. Excellent performance in every aspect.

Which model JBL series were you comparing the Tempo set to? is it the P660c self? I actually forgot the prices of the morel's off hand.

I am seeing similar specs on both with respect to power handling & frequency response. The actual sound reproduction capabilities I am not sure about (with the JBL).

One advantage I saw with the JBL is the 2 ohm impedance (not sure if thats the actual impedance of the actual woofer itself) so if I were to use a 4 channel amp I would be maximizing on the output from a single channel on each woofers as opposed to half the power for the morel where I will have to run a separate 4 channel with both channels bridged just for the morel woofers alone. I'm trying to keep my system simple (1 mono & 1 4 channel).

If some minor 'eq-ing' can sort out where the JBL falls short with respect to sound reproduction I may very well go with them. I'd like the challenge of playing with my future processor to see what it can do for me. My mind is not made up yet as I am still unsure what equipment my entry competition system will comprise of (with respect to the front stage). I have held my hand on the processor for now, last I saw there may be an upgrade to it thats makes it more suitable for a car audio install.

How bout you make it easy for me & ship the car to Trinidad for a weekend

Uhh no ill keep my car here..ill miss it lol

The tempo would compare to the jbl in question because its in the same price bracket..I'm not sure of what it goes for now but I'm pretty sure the tempos go for in the reigon of 1100 to 1400 don't quote me on it..call edhardy or get in contact him directly an he would link you.. An like I've said before morel in trinidad is cheaper than anywhere in the western hemisphere.. The morels I have I got from him..an his prices cheaper than ebay! I was actually going to do a budget entry level competition system but I moved to the us..

fag

But yea like I was telling you nerve, the morel would be my choice of compts if I had to do a budget system, kick arse tweeter and handled the power (90x4? iirc) quite nicely.

nerve..
edhardy and wiseone is the same store, so it doesn't really matter who you talk to.

if i had to choose, i would still take the jbl over the morels, for a couple of reasons.

1) from some browsing, it seems that to get any sort of midbass from the morels you need an enclosure of some sort. may work differently in actual application, but that is what i came across.

2) the morel tweet sounded a bit harsh (but that may be due to the demo crossover settings that they had them on)

3) with minimal processing, the jbl's sound very very natural and balanced with excellent tonality.

obviously i'v had more listening time on the jbl's in an actual car environment so this is not an apples to apples comparison, do this is just a few things to note.

morel tweeters are 1 of the smoothest tweeters and one of the best tweeters around.. ive never actually heard someone said morel tweeters were harsh..but ur right might be the demo..

because to me one of the stand out points of that tempo component set i have was the tweeters..but then again everyone has different liking when it comes to tweeters

Firewall, it sounds like those Morels weren't broken in yet.
