This makes sence a little but is there a need for more gates?

Maybe they have a plan to encourage more international traffic? That is what you would call forward planning. I hope that is the case.

and what about the EIGHT gates at the 'old' terminal ??? the original 'plan' was to make the 'old' side the domestic/light aircraft side (or so it was bandied about).
Maybe Dass has some other scheme up his sleeve to get control of Camden ...as usual...

it is....mainly regional and private/ light aircrafts would be using the Camden strip......opening up gates at Piarco for more international flights...

old terminal is mainly used by Briko and cargo....

Sounds good for frequent Tobago flyers. No Piarco hassle.
But Roystonia is right there...that's not going to be very nice, unless they only have day flights or something.

i say power to the people!
make more air ports & Bigger Buildings, or whatever anything to improve and modernize our country i supported Manning for building those art centers and the over pass grand bazaar, and i'll support Kamla if she want another air port, it the freaking 2011..those who are against this clearly wants Trinidad to stay backward whilst the rest of the world move forward ..tisk tisk

With an airport dedicated to small aircraft....no long wait and delays for the Tobago run during Easter and Jazz Fest weekends......can't see how this would be bad.

The runway there already....just to secure it and a small terminal.

Unless you can legitimately justify the need for a new airport, then those who think objectively will question a new airport.
Th excuse of not having to drive all the way from "Couva" to Piarco is a load of crap.
Trinidad too small for people to coast about driving so far to go Piarco.

so are you saying a private consortium was handed this partially government funded project................... :?

Please say proper tender procedures was followed after adverts was gazetted inviting interested parties to partner with?

I hope they left no room for corrupted officials private or public to make a mess of this an make Kamla look bad again.

wont mind another airport... or a few... small ones in the far reaches of the island... like mayaro and sanfernando.

those places are too far for most people to venture. plus the roads are bad, hence, a lot of trinis never get to see those parts of the island. and then there's the traffic to contend with.

Around two years or more ago, Gary ?unt in a meeting with MATT and TTASA, said they stopped racing in Camden as they have plans to make the area an Avation Complex, they would be making new airstrips etc. I suppose the PP is going to go ahead with the plan.
