Never had this problem with my P510ub. As the newer models come out file attributes and format(vbr and cbr) and usb drive compatibility becomes less of an issue. So follow you deck's manual. This program well, fat 32 formatter - http://tokiwa.qee.jp/EN/Fat32Formatter/. Jus dont format your hard drive. Sadly only works in XP for me. I'm running a 80gb laptop hard drive on the P510 with 20gb of music so far. Installed last week to test. Have to put more music now to see if it'll read. It just takes about 2-3 seconds longer than a usb drive to begin playing when u first turn it on, drive needs to power up. but once it starts no probs from it so far.
Yeah... had the thought in my mind and it works. I can play music from the phone while it charges. However, if the deck is not set to USB it will not send enough power to charge. SO you can't charge the phone and play radio at the same time.
