'Suspected' car thief killed

A suspected car thief was shot dead by police during a high-speed chase in Couva on Wednesday night.

A second suspect escaped and was being sought by police yesterday.

The dead man was identified as Kent Guy, 25, of Santa Cruz.

The armed men allegedly robbed a woman of her Mitsubishi Lancer car at a house at Carli Bay, Couva, around 10.30 p.m.

The incident was reported to the Couva Police Station and officers on patrol responded.

The stolen car was intercepted along the Southern Main Road, Couva.

Police said the driver refused to stop the vehicle, resulting in a chase.

Investigators said the men fired several shots at the officers, who responded hitting one of the suspects.

The second man jumped out of the vehicle and ran.

Dats true, he didn't really steal de car but rather he borrowed it unknowns to the owner. He was planning to return the vehicle after he returned from bible classes dat night.

Thankfully highway patrol found it abandoned somewhere Charleville. They cross the median of the highway apparently and blew both tires on the left, mashed up the rims and bent the axle. They need to be seriously disciplined, i say chop off their hands!
