The afternoon rains in town started more than an hour ago. Anyone knows if Uncle Jack's retention ponds operational as yet? Been a while since I saw downtown under flood.

ODPM tweeted: (@ODPM_TT)

ITCZ will affect both islands over the next 4 to 6 hours- rainfall and heavier thundershowers. Pls note this as you conduct your activities!

Bulletin#

Date: Friday 16th of September 2011
ISSUED AT:12:28PM

THE ITCZ TO CONTINUE AFFECTING WEATHER CONDITIONS
OVER TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO OVER THE NEXT 4-6 HOURS

Unstable environmental conditions associated with
a combination of localized heating, an upper
level trough and the Inter-Tropical Convergence
Zone (ITCZ) is expected to continue affecting
weather conditions over Trinidad and Tobago over
the next 4-6 hours

As a result, moderate to heavy showers and
isolated thundershowers can be anticipated during
the forecast period over any location of Trinidad
and Tobago. Rainfall accumulations of 20-35
millimeters are likely consequences of the
downpours. Street/Flash flooding along with gusty
winds in excess of 40 km/hr can also be expected
in the vicinity of heavy showers/thundershowers.

Citizens are advised to be vigilant and cautious
as they conduct their activities. Be alert to any
electrical discharges from thundercloud activity
and adopt measures which would preserve life and
property.

WE STRONGLY UNDERSCORE THAT TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO IS
NOT UNDER ANY TROPICAL STORM THREAT, WATCH OR
WARNING AT THIS TIME.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Services
is closely monitoring conditions and will issue
another bulletin if the situation warrants.

E. Sampson
Meteorologist

Passed by the pond lunch time. Where Royal Bank used to be on South Quay. Was empty. But the river was rising!

Around 2pm today I witnessed epic flooding and traffic pile-up east bound on the h-way, Trincity Mall was flooded out in the car park... even Pennywise was leaking through the roof...
