visited COSTLO yesterday - new place opened in El Socorro - like a pricesmart without the need for a card...

there were TV's and Tv cabinets on sale....

some of the cabinets looked great and the price was not that bad....

saw some sonys, sharps, samsungs HDTVs for sale as well - did not get chance to check the actual models though...

jus a heads up

the VSX-53 is part of the Elite line, the VSX-1121K isnt

the 53 has THX Select II Plus, the 1121 has standard THX

The 53 can output 125W per channel at 6ohms, the 1121 is 110W at 8 ohm

otherwise they are identical.
the video processor in both are the same (very important requirement in a a/v receiver IMO)

compare them yourself here
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... ers/VSX-53
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... VSX-1121-K

I think the 53 is almost US$200 more expensive

^ not really... there are different grades of quality
same reason more times than likely an Alpine headunit is better than a Pyramid, Denon can sound better than Sony.

agreed, denon will sound better than sony 100% of the time,no doubt about that, but sony doing what they do oh so well, marketing, and the average joe public person really doesnt care about sound quality when compared to quantity (loudness). Thats the sad reality we live in.

the same LED strips they use on cars will work but will be 12V so you would need an AC/DC adapter

Anybody here using AV cables with their flow digital cable box?
When i use the AV cables i get interference (faint horizontal lines + humming noise when volume is low).
When i use the coaxial i get no interference. Tried other AV cables and other cable boxes in the house; same issue.

Just separated the power and video cables to see if that helped.
Seemed to have solved it but idk if it might come back.

I was just looking at the LED rope lights in Excellent Stores - no reason why you can't use that behind your TV

might be perfect

^ yes! S/PDIF optical supports stereo and even up to Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 (however it can't support HD audio such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio)

try a different cable?

what signal from the TV are you sending to the receiver? Cable TV?
