2-3 months and you pay 2129 1 time payment they recover your vehicle for free

One question though... is brand name of gps systems important?
The reason i'm asking is because when i called a tramigo dealer, he was only saying that tramigo is an actual brand and most of those other companies have generic chinese made systems...

Good info here guys, wanna put gps in my car also but i want the best!
I know what its like to park your car somewhere and return to see it gone. A million thoughts start running through your head and you just wanna cry or facking kill someone.
I called car search awhile ago and their prices were over $3000 and the options were to have them recover the car or not and it cost $1000 more for that.

land rover wrote:I suggest carsearch all the way. Do some research concerning the increasing popularity of satellite phones and the impact they will have. There was an article in the papers recently with the advent of 4G phones and what not that may cause system failures to the GPS in the same way that mobile networks get jammed for new years. It is not the same, mobile phone jam networks because they send out and receive signals, to many ppl tryin to send at the same time will bottleneck it.GPS devices do not send any signals through the satellite, think of it like a solar panel, you jus put your antenna out and catch what is broadcasted (thats not a word), so you cant jam it if you jus listening. But i can be corrected on this
Also to note that if your vehicle is in an area with no network coverage well look at trouble... same goes for very closed-up garages where underhand work can be in progress.
TRUE this is a weak spot for the systems, however, you pay for what you get cuz there are two types of systems. The cheaper one that works via SMS where either you or they have to ask the device for the location, an if in a GSM deadspot you are screwed. Then there the more expensive ones like MORA, GEOTRAC, and EBSL who i used to work for. They all use data sims to track vehicles so its always sending its location which is logged on a map. So even if the car goes into a deadspot, you can see the trail of the vehicle going into the deadspot. It happened to me while at EBSL. Car stolen hit dead spot up in the back areas of Maraval, but the history led us straight to where it was parked.
Also keep in mind CarSearch similarly has towers which stolen vehicles must pass by, and they can be avoided, i have had a NFM exec come to us cuz this is the explanation he was given as to why his vehicle cannot be found (and we installed for a rental car company that complained of the same). But im not bashing them, their product is great but IMHO, its been around long so there are ppl who kno who to get around it. Just like in time they will learn how to get around GPS as well.
Another thing is there is no way for you to check the credit on the sim card in your GPS unit so you will not know when credit is done. Another point is that if there is no credit in the sim card then there is the potential for no function on the unit as was my case.
Again you get what you pay for, cheaper systems means added risk to this kinda thing.
Also, some sim cards have recycled numbers in that they take phone numbers that were previously owned but deactivated because it was not in use...then produce that number on a new sim card. Then Voila! people calling your gps unit and running out the money because it works as a data sim hence it would be roaming everytime communication is made with it. SAME AS ABOVE
