nigie ,a member has the same starter problem with a 400 chev engine that you encountered....
today he has used 4 starters & sets of starter bo0lts to no avail.... any headway on your starter issues and fixxx........

On that particular block one starter hole was out of alignment so it had 2 be redrilled...this seemed 2 be a defect from the company..... so we moved from 168 tooth flexplate to 153 and redrilled the hole ..prior to that we widened the starter block hole for it 2 fit...ill put up pic of widened starter block tomorrow... which was the temporary fix b4 the redrilling and filling.

this guy broke 1 starter,and busted the block with another....
was working after his mechanic angle shimmed 1 bolt... then it failed again.

Yep I still have it, I have not heard of those heads so going to search for them on google.

Equipped with Kaase P-38 cylinder heads, a modest camshaft, and an Edelbrock Junior intake, the 302, running on pump fuel and barely 9:1 compression ratio, easily generates 500hp @ 7500rpm.
