What's your fuel mileage?

Postby djcarbon » October 10th, 2012, 10:25 pm

I saw this thread http://www.trinituner.com/v3/forums/viewtopic.php?t=87907 and thought it was kinda cool. With premium up I'm driving slower and estimating 900km to a tank. Has anyone else altered their driving speeds because of the cost of gas and seen improvement?

super: around 400km per tank (if I stick with cruise control and do mainly highway runs I can get about 450km). According to the vitara's fuel computer, I average around 9km/L.
Since the premium hike, I think I've been paying more attention to my driving style, because I know it's only a matter of time till the subsidy on super gets reduced. In a way though, if an increase in fuel prices across the board would result in more people taking their time on the roads (even if it's just to save money), or lead to a general shift towards us wanting to become more fuel efficient, I welcome it.

Hey RS did you use US or UK gallon?

From my figures. I estimate I would have gotten 350km this week. Tank is 50L I believe

That works out to 16.4mpg(US) and 20mpg(UK)

:-/

Like Skidz, I want to know what vehicle gives 900km's per tank.

Anyhow, 4G18 CS Lancer, $105 super unleaded. 350-380km's per tank. Only time AC is OFF is after football which is twice per week. I estimate AC on 90-95% of the time. Honestly, I try to stay at 80km/h. When not paying attention, I will hit 90-95km/h according to road elevation.

what kinda car is this.....?...900km per tank WTH.......

2008 UK Spec BMW 320i. Auto start/stop helps. Unfortunately, I got lost in the hills of St. Joseph and literally bun out 100km worth of fuel going up and down hills and then having to shift around 6000rpm with the A/C on for lost time. Now I'm just under 700km for my tank. Its a 60L tank btw. Just like rollingstock said I was getting 9km/L according the the display before when I had the A/c on and zorcing some stupid numbers... I'm due to empty the tank and try $60 worth of super as the manual says I can run 91, 95 or 98+ RON with no issue. My mech is still laughing at me and keeps saying 'ping'.

>.<

btw imho TRAFFIC IS THE KILLER OF GAS! Da is why I does park up and ride oui.

[edit] I just realise how many people were asking what car getting that kinda mileage. Note: MY driving style has changed drastically to attempt to achieve this. Its hard and requires discipline but I'm shifting according to the display on the dash which is for econo-driving (or some isht so the manual does call it). Basically its prompting me to shift right before or just after 2000rpm. As SOON as I hit 6th I engaging cruise control. Accelerating in a spirited fashion has me running 30mpg according to the indicator. 55mph down it gets +50mpg. 55-75mpg it gets ~50mpg. Anything over 80mph (up to 110 I don't really go faster and won't now at all) will run me 40mpg. It seems to have the first gen tech used in the 2011-2012 models for fuel efficiency. Run flats - no spare - save some weight, a 'coasting' mode something in the manual which basically seems to limit the engine retarding forward motion in 5th and 6th gear and the auto start/stop shindig.

Its just like the TV ad just that mine is the model before so its not advertised as being for fuel efficiency really.

So why then is it only the hated mayor of Port-of-Spain who actually mentions it? Jah know oui. Why them eh put something in place or mention it as a method of reducing the subsidy??? If the highway was open all the time I could put on cruise control to 60mph and stay in 6th and hope for the best oui. But 1st - 2nd in morning traffic??? Geez. When I actually reach a light and take my foot off the clutch to allow the start/stop to kick in I sit there and just realise how much gas (and by extension taxpayer subsidy dollars) wasting oui. Dang.

Nissan B12 with QG15DE, a/c on less than 50% of the time, $80 super:

250 kms before service

280 kms after service including cleaning of injectors & throttle body (which had no carbon build up), change of plugs, air filter and fuel filter. This does not seem good to me, since I see some tuners in another thread saying they get upwards of 400 kms from their B15s. Dunno what could be causing this poor fuel economy :?

Well hold on cause I gonna try Super in it when this, my last tank of $4 premium done... lol.

Honestly though, driving to get 800-850Km is impractical and unsafe. 900Km worse. Look for instance how my detour into St. Joseph last week eat up gas. Forget me getting bad directions and getting lost the only reason I'm getting away so is clearly because I'm locked into Grande - St. Augustine - Chaguanas runs. Flat land. Unsafe because in Trinidad man does overtake on the left and on the right and on the shoulder (3rd and used for comedy and emphasis lol). Driving at the speed limit 80Km/h is quite dangerous because of this. Perhaps if they actually controlled the streets we'd not drive so. Getting write off from an Almera/B15/AD Van is not a good look.

I'm going to say that I realistically should get 650Km - 750Km without a/c or driving aggressively. +600Km with a/c no zorce for sure. Will tell the tale of super by the end of the week.

sorry man, for some reason I thought the 2.3L required premium, but based on the pic below (taken from a car park thread) I can see I was wrong
Image
as for taxi men and that kinda mileage, sure they would like it but, you think you could get them to drive conservatively enough to get anywhere close to those numbers?

600km with zorce and ac from 400km after driving conservatively without them. If I am disciplined I can get 800-900km per 52 litres but that's highly disciplined driving with no AC.
If I zorce and AC from start I will get 500km per 52 litres approx

With all that you have done with relation to sevice on the car, it sort of just boils down to your driving habits that cause you to get the gas mileage you currently get.

Average should be about $5.00 per km using super and I'm getting about that right now.
