Looks like you'd need a Gevey SIM.

Thanks....

Save yourself the hassle, download the template and do it yourself, worse case you mess up and spend $25 for a replacement sim which I'm sure is less than you would pay someone to cut it for you.

I don't own an iPad 3 or any at all for that matter, I don't mind buying the iPad mini if the price is right but depending on how the new iMacs are shaping up, might throw some money that way.

Where do most people accidentally destroy their iPhone?

Hint: It's in the same place where folks tend to accidentally cut themselves and warm things with fire.

yup... costs a lot though.
eg: http://cutyoursim.com/index.php/remote- ... ne-4s.html

@chronic does them also. I think its $140 from him.
OK so would probably look to try this over the weekend or very early next week.

I've never even delved into iphones on contract, unlocking, jailbreaking, basebands, tethered, blah blah etc etc before. Never even considered it. I stuck strictly to factory unlocked and that's it - wanted no issues/worries whatsoever with updating or using on different networks.

Now have an opportunity to get a 4S free thats locked to Rogers, and it's not jailbroken. Just to verify - that link M_2NR quoted above, or even @chronic, are valid/legit services that will work with a locked iphone, and they accept TT credit cards, correct?

Anyone ever use any of the services can verify their validity before I try it? Any hidden steps or procedures you have to do that they don't mention?

Forgive the ignorance, but I'm still unsure and skeptical about all this unlocking stuff.

But ABA aren't there possible issues with that (gevey sim) when updating etc? At least I think I've seen many people online (even on this forum) asking for help because they updated the OS and their phone is now locked after trying.

I know it's about TT$1000 or so to FU on those sites, but I still consider that a good price for a 4S with no issues.

Hmm OK so that's still the case.

In that case, I definitely don't mind paying the cost to FU from those sites if that will solve all those issues - once the services are legit...

Can't beat @chronic service rep. I unlocked a few iPhones so far. Paypal works fine. And a FU iPhone is far less painful than a gevey sim. Remember it's not just simply unlocking eh. U may need a legit carrier sim to activate sometimes (say after an update) and if you're updating you'll have to use custom fw.

That's my opinion as well Strauss. I just hope those website options listed earlier are good, and that I don't need a Rogers sim to get it done...

Mods. Ulyuh fix this ^ na. Mankind a good few km from a PC.

And yes dreadman1 cutyoursim and @chronic are both legit and once it is completed any sim will activate it. It is however expensive for Rogers.

BTW if an iPad mini launches at 329$ vs 299 or even 229$ will you still buy it? I honestly don't think I will pay 329$ for it. It's reaching the cost of a refurb 9.7". It would seriously have to have something better than the 9.7 for me to spend 329$.

^ depends on your own personal use I guess. It's going to be a major competitor to the smaller kindles, no doubt Apple is going to push it's e-reader capabilities. I think it might be cool to play around with for a while but I can't see myself spending all that money when I can pay a couple hundred more for the full version.

Apple Now Has More Cash Than The U.S. Government

According to the latest daily statement from the U.S. Treasury, the government had an operating cash balance of $73.8 billion at the end of the day yesterday.
Apple's last earnings report (PDF here) showed that the company had $76.2 billion in cash and marketable securities at the end of June.
In other words, the world's largest tech company has more cash than the world's largest sovereign government.
That's because Apple collects more money than it spends, while the U.S. government does not.

Didn't Steve Jobs say something along the lines of the iPad already being the perfect size, not too big not to small etc. Around the same time the 7" Galaxy tab was heard of? Genuine question here, and if yes (which is in fact the answer lol) What do you guys think about apple releasing a 7" tablet?

I personally think if you want an iPad, then get an iPad, if you want something smaller, get an iPhone, if you don't want an iPhone, get an iPod touch, this isn't bridging any gap at all it's just silly as hell lol

Agreed. It's all part of the marketing scheme. They're just trying to make it more affordable to the public for those who can't get their hands on the ipad3 due to their financial situation. The price difference is a significant one and would attract a new audience for the price. Not sure about what will happen with the newer version of the ipod seeing that the 32gb model's price borders the 16gb ipad mini.
