Kenwood KIV-701 & KIV-BT900 deck with reverse camera

Postby venum » February 10th, 2013, 4:10 am

Greetings audio gurus

I have a question

I am looking to install a new deck and came across the Kenwood KIV-701 & KIV-BT900.

Kenwood's website states that these decks are compatible with a reverse camera:

The latest KIV models now feature a rear camera input compatible with CMOS-300 and CMOS-200 reverse cameras to better assist the driver to reverse safely in any vehicle

Questions:

1. Does anyone know if the reverse camera display is automatically activated on the deck display when the car is put into reverse, assuming that the camera is connected to the reverse lamps

2. will the music pause\mute when the reverse display activates

3. does it need a Kenwood CMOS-200\300 camera or will it work with a generic :?:

since
http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertain ... t/CMOS-200

says it is universal, I am hoping that it is not needed and that a generic one will work

4. does it need a Kenwood iPod cable or will it work with a generic :?:

5. who can install :?:

what are some other options to this deck - Pioneer, JVC, Alpine :?:

the kiv-bt900 dose not have the back up camera feature only the bt-901 dose, and yes it works just like any other backup camera the deck pauses what ever you are doing and switches to the cam,3 you can use the reverse cam of choice it is just a rca vid in for the cam,4 it comes with the ipod cable in the box, 5 you can install it your self it is pretty simple to do i installed mine for my self.
