I suspect u mean Quantity Control Valve but that usually throws a code when relief valve opens due to excessive rail pressure. I am not experiencing such.

Yea you are correct . have u tried to to reset the ecu . are u reving past 2500 rpm ??

try and ecu reset... or put it into diagnostic mode and see if it throws a code (most likely it wont and resetting the ECU might fix it - happened to mine once, and i fixed it by resetting the ecu).

I feel like such a dodo brain. Dirty air filter caused kink in turbo inlet hose therefore was running air deficient/rich. Sorted out now.
Also i tried the 3,5,7 method and got no codes before this. My mind was just leaning toward SCV i guess. Thanks all.
It would be good to know the pump model number though for future reference in case anyone gets DTC 1272.

For the guys who using Amsoil in their Navaras...

I was previously using the Amsoil 15w40 Heavy Duty Marine/Diesel oil in my Nav, until recently I was advised by the distributor that there is another version that's recommended for high-speed diesel engines with DPF and EGR, esp. for common rail vehicles like our Navara.


Here is the prev Amsoil I was using:



And here is the other version that I have switched to....






AFAIK, both versions are available in Trinidad (tobago too! ) from various suppliers, and both are suitable for our Navara's.
I just like to use the best recommended products.


The cost of the Amsoil heavy duty diesel oil is approx $295 per gallon +vat, and the premium amsoil is about $310 + vat (YMMV)


Also, the newer API-CJ4 rating applies to the premium oil (and not the older, outdated API-CG4) so that's how you know it's rated for our navara's.




Had an impromptu oil change on the Navara yesterday, after I busted open my oil sump-pan while offroading in Side B in Las Cuevas this past sunday. Had to tow the Nav from Cuevas all the way to maracas then wait for a tow truck (luckily, Side B always walks prepared and we all had a bunch of tow straps and shackles, lol). Was able to take it down, had it braised and tig welded and reinstalled yesterday by myself with a fresh layer of grey silicone... put in the new Amsoil and a new filter and budow! Full powah!


Long story short, the oil sump pan on our Nav's are readily exposed underneath by the middle crossmember, so it's adviseable to install an aftermarket skid plate to protect it esp. if you're gonna be offroading at all with the Nav (those plastic pieces of sheit that Nissan put will only protect ur drive belts from water, not hard rocks and trail damage - mine got ripped off soon after I started offroading.... in 2010).

straight from the distributor meng... but it should be available in other stores too! Just hadda call and look around - I know that El Socorro Auto Supplies carries amsoil, and I believe Juteram's in Arima/Sangre Grande carries it too

Replaced the gearbox seal on the front driveshaft this past weekend.

Here's the leak from the front side of the gearbox (on the front driveshaft side):




Here's the old seal :





(has a slight indentation on the rim of the seal, where we had to use a screwdriver to pry the thing out)


Now, no more leak... and Mickey Mouse is back on the road, ready for a trail (once the under armor is bolted on)

did about 450kms so far (3/4 tank of diesel for me).

Working nice and smooth bro, no problem for power, hardly any smoke... just a lil puff when pulling off from a red light, but then again daiz just blowing out de carbon!!

trvs, had this made for me last year, just didn't have the time (and was too lazy) to bolt it onto Mickey Mouse...








6 feet long, 13 inches wide, 3/16" thick... and weighs about 44.97lbs (lol).
Was originally gonna simply drill through the crossmembers and use long bolts to strap this piece of armour on.... but might make some brackets instead.

Lol, reminds me of that movie "Death Race" with Jason Statham.... except this is for under armour. However, I'm pretty sure it can withstand more than a few rounds from a 9mm or even a .45, but probably not a 5.56x47 Nato from an AR-15 or even a 7.62x36 from an AK...


At least I know my sump pan is safe from small arms fire.

anyone ever changed their belts at neal & massy at the 100k mark and how long did they actually keep the navara(D40) for to get that done?i am trying to weigh the benefit of going by them to do that or just buy the belts myself and get them installed outside?

today was my first interaction with them and called them for a separate part which they pulled up on their system over the phone and told me i could come down for it one time as it was the last in stock,When i reached down and they checked apparently it wasnt there and they have to order it from south but it would reach by tomorrow so this wasnt exactly the best footing to start on but it seems like the norm from the past experiences of other.

above the cylindrical part(blower motor) there is a rectangluar cover with some clips with a touch of white paint on each clip just use a flat blade screw driver to unfasten the clips your filter is behind that rectangular cover as i said before if u dont have a filter right now just vaccume clean the filter it works wonders.

it looks a bit diffrent but when this filter is clogged you can notice that the air comming from your ac vent is a bit lower than before making your ac a lott less efficent

Well it doesn't appear to be mobile and when I put my finger inside the grill above the rectangle I can feel that it has some fenestrations about 0.5 cm that seems to be hard plastic "filters' .i still put a toothbrush above in the grill and tried to at least remove some if the dust from the holes but luckily my a/c has never dipped and I was more concerned about the air quality,I also used a small compressor to try to circulate any dust in the system and I left the a/c on for a bit as well as sprayed some Lysol in there to circulate again to see if I could do anything about any germs/fungi hiding out in that nice area.thanks again for the help

dunno if you still need this information, but I can find and post all the numbers and emails I got off one of their brochures; it helped me out when I had my issue with them recently

as for lighthammer, that underbody protection looks great man, although I must ask, how come you opted to build it in one large piece, rather than one for the sump, another for the transfer case, etc?
Also, if you don't mind sharing, who did it, cost, etc, I'd appreciate it; don't have a Navara, but my vitara has the same rubbish plastic protection, and lifestyle is asking around $2200 for just the sump guard

Hey tuners....I have a questions about the Navara....I have heard many people say that thier engines and transmissions give a lot of trouble.....can you call give me some input on this topic...I am interested in the Navara but its a deterrent knowing that the engine and or transmission will give trouble

Never had with mine. I had suspension noises
