Information at this time indicates a discontinuation of electricity service across the country and as such the country is currently on a level one (1) security alert following this nationwide power loss
The discontinuation of service occured shortly after midnight on Friday 29th March 2013 due to a situation involving the plant at Phoenix Park Gas Processors at Pt.Lisas being unable to provide quality gas to the power generating facilities across the country
The ODPM is currently monitoring the situation along with emergency support functions and agencies, TTEC, NGC, MEEA, WASA TTFS, TTPS, MOH, MOLG, MOT
The Ministry of Energy and Enery Affairs has indicated that the quality of gas needed by the power generating units will be made available to same. It is expected that areas in Southern Trinidad will have restoration of electricity first. Siparia DMU has confirmed electricity has been restored to the Siparia region.
The quality of gas may firstly be directed to power generating units in Penal and Union Estate and will continue throughout the rest of the country.
Water Resources Agency has also indicated water supply to varying regions have also been affected due to the loss of electricity service.
If you have been adversely affected please contact the ODPM's Emergency Call Centre at 511. The ODPM continues to monitor the situation and will continue to update the public accordingly.
