Fram oil filters - users

Naw, I'm certain I typed "squabble".
To date there aren't any locally done flow or filtration tests done on the locally available filters with locally available oils that I'm aware of. So we're just guessing which cheap filters are better, sometimes based on an online comparison.

I did, that's why I specified "available locally". Of all 20+ filters tested, you can only walk into a local store and have your choice of four, and we haven't started comparing Luberfiner, Valvoline, Quaker State alongside those four. But everybody's cutting open filters and posting them online anyway, so the information is out there. We'll just have to open several browser tabs and compare, that's all.

Discussions about engine oil and filters always seems to go into a 'zone' where the average individual is left unclear about the best approach to proper maintenance.
I would recommend to the average vehicle owner thus:
-If you are unclear,use what the manufacturer of your vehicle makes available for your unit.
BTW,Hook 'squabble' is for me quite appropriate.

Have used FRAM for 4 years. No problems. My car uses the slimmer short filter which I cant seems to be able to find in other brands.
I recently got a K&N with the correct diameter but it too long for my liking(almost level with the oil pan).
Was studying to go back FRAM but this thread have me worried. ??:

Proper cross referencing is a must when determining fitment eg. the following are for Toyota Corolla and others exact;

Last serious note is be carful of counterfeit items since this is a really big problem,hence purchase from retailers with serious stds.

Looks like your oil pan would hit anything before your oil filter.
Is the oil pan aluminum? If so I would be more worried about that hitting something than your oil filter.

Yeah I've used it for nearly 5 years no problems. But I knew about the horror stories and just never found an alternative readily available. Decided to try the K&N. That's what's on the car now.

I have used the Fram before then switched to the extended guard which was more expensive,recently used a brand i heard on the radio Asuki both oil n diesel fuel filters....so far so good!
