Microsoft Confirms Talks Over Renaming of Real Madrid's Bernabeu Stadium
The Spanish division of Microsoft has confirmed that the American company is in talks with Real Madrid over the renaming of the club's iconic home stadium, the Santiago Bernabeu.
The news comes just a few months after Forbes' Mike Ozanian revealed that Real Madrid were the most valuable sports team in the world, valued in September at a staggering $3.4 billion.
The club need that kind of bankroll, too, if they are to be able to sustain the kind of high-profile signings seen in their recent history, of which £85 million man Gareth Bale is just the latest.
It was also Ozanian who reported on initial rumours of a Real/Microsoft link-up in late October, where it is stated that any deal with the technology company would be highly lucrative to the Spanish giants.
Real Madrid can put a considerable percentage of their revenue down to their current shirt sponsorship deal with Fly Emirates, which currently bags them a reported $39 million per year, effective since 2013.
