Cs3 Lancer List of issues

Postby Trinicatalan » December 5th, 2013, 10:05 pm

Ok where to begin...
1. Car idles very rough, when air condition is on.

2. Car is making a sharp, metallic, "clank" sound when I hit bumps in the road. Have no idea what's causing that.

3. When driving for long period, the neutral light in the instrument panel starts blinking. (Checked other threads and gonna try to flush tranny fluid)

4. Engine idles like a diesel engine. Making that tapping/rattling sound. Used to idle very quietly before.

5. Hearing annoying rattling sound when accelerating. This happens all the time when a/c is on; sometimes when a/c is off. Mechanic says I need to use premium gas. Can anyone verify?

Real pain!!! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'm scouring the threads to find info, but it's not so easy to find on my phone.

Causes of this are dirty Throttle Body (TB) and faulty Idle Air Control Valve (IACV). Both can be cleaned and serviced.

2. Car is making a sharp, metallic, "clank" sound when I hit bumps in the road. Have no idea what's causing that.
This could be the cradle arm bushings (big one in particular) and/or the stabilizer link /linkage rubbers. With the stabilizer bar there is the linkage that goes through the cradle arm and two bushings (right and left) onthe bar itself.

You are on point here. You need to flush that transmission. After prolonged driving, the transmission oil gets hot and with that it gets thin. A warning signal would be that blinking Neutral light. Flush tranny and reset ECU(take battery pole off for at least 30mins).

4. Engine idles like a diesel engine. Making that tapping/rattling sound. Used to idle very quietly before.
As said in #1, IACV and Throttle Body.

5. Hearing annoying rattling sound when accelerating. This happens all the time when a/c is on; sometimes when a/c is off. Mechanic says I need to use premium gas. Can anyone verify?
The engine seems to be 'pinging'. That is caused by bad quality gas. Change your gas station, use a 'newer' gas station with filtered gas, use a gas/injector treatment and see if things change.

I think I covered you there. Anybody else, feel free to add, comment or correct where applicable.

I get this noise at present. However, its coming from the ball joint. Apparently there is abit of play between the ball joint and the cradle arm. To solve the problem you either can replace the cradle or jack the cradle upwards and have it welded/tacked. Those were the solutions my mechanic gave to me

You should try to get original engine mounts too i find aftermarket let too much vibration throughout the car and Check your shock mounts for the knocking noise. Oh and consider using a different engine oil (tappet noise). Idk what you using now but my experience with shell nice.

Yes Trinicatalan , I forget to mention that.
Use a lighter body oil and different brand. 15W40 is nice and 'in between'.
