Is it the pump and sand filter combo?
These pumps might be too much for a bucket filter.
They are made to work with high pressure sand filters.
You should use a mag drive pump with the bucket filter.

rmtuner, I think this guy talking bout them Intex pumps them which are not designed to work 24hrs a day continuously. This type is not heavy duty like the Hayward, and even though it will work for a while, it will not last. My cousin had one and it failed after a month of continuous operation.

This is the pump,

Yip that's an intex pump and filter for them above ground pools.
I think you can run it when needed.
But as DJ said they don't last long.

Driftwood, most beaches on the eat coast, mayaro, manzan, I got some in Tobago as well. I would boil them for a ten mins then soak in fresh water for a few days. The problem with these kind of driftwood is 90% of them will float. Chai and Petshop boys have some nice imported pieces, heavy like a piece of iron

That is a very risky thing in that the plants from an in ground pond can introduce many types of organisms and diseases that may not be welcome in your tank. Be very careful and wash the plant properly and I would even suggest a quarantine period. Where the plant sits in a bucket for awhile before introduction.

If you going salt water you should keep some of the smaller tanks for the filtration system and skimmer etc.

Anyone knows where in San Fernando/Marabella area I can get a 53 x 20 x 20 glass aquarium taken apart and resealed properly? Have one that is leaking along one of the bottom seams.

Arowana usually start at 1000 for small ones and it usually depends on the strain .the more expensive strains would start at 1500 to 2000 or evean more for the rare ones.

I don't recomend using pooran glass because their work is not quality and they do a fast thing and their prices are a little high for the quality of work they do.
You should ask pet shop boys if they would get their glass maker to do it for you because their work is quality .

For that size tank (180gal), just make sure its 3/8" glass and not 1/4" like what those normal glass supply shops try to make.
Also make sure its well strapped
